I finally got the addon pack. Since my umpteenth Jasta 2 pilot bit the dust, i figured it can't hurt to change the scenery a bit. So now im with Marine landflieger abteilung III, flying E.Is.
I've had scrapes with several French Moranes, and a balloon, but they all got away and left my poor Fokker in various states of disrepair. In the end i realized that i can't just chase after them like i would in my old Albatross. These Moranes seem to be at least as quick as i am, if not quicker. So this time i deviously positioned myself between the Morane (RFC this time) and the lines, and patiently clawed my way up to around 500m above him. The i waited for him to turn for home. When he did i plummeted out of the sky like a hawk. My first salvo seems to have hit the observer, because he took no further part in the proceedings. I even managed to use my energy to zoom back up to about 50m above him again, and reposition for another attack. It took a minute or so to get back into position without loosing my (tiny) altitude advantage, but i got there. And ack-ack-ack, and down he went, with me merrily ack-ack-acking after him all the way down, just to make sure he didn't try to level off and get away.
The satisfaction of putting the claim in after so many failed attempts was fantastic. Now let's see if i can catch another!
MACHINE GUN FIRE: CAMBRIN by ROBERT GRAVES (September 25 1915)
The torn line wavers, breaks, and falls. 'Get up, come on!' the captain calls 'Get up, the Welsh, and on we go!' (Christ, that my lads should fail me so!) A dying boy grinned up and said: 'The whole damned company, sir; it's dead.' 'Come on! Cowards!' bawled the captain, then Fell killed, among his writhing men.

samba, that's the right spirit! The Morane in WOFF can be a tough opponent; the observer put many holes even in my Albatros D.II several times. Congrats to that well-planned and so well-deserved victory!

Thanks for the comments.
I've set my mind on surviving for a long time. Starting in 1915 seems to be my only option at the moment...

Wow - the Morane rear gunners are usually very dangerous snipers, and to down one with a Fokker Eindecker is quite an achievement - congratulations, Samba!
