Just picked out the p-47,Spit and 262 on the DCS WWII backers page. When they arrive, I'll reinstall CFS3 to appreciate how far we've come since that was the first sim I ever installed (unceremoniously dumped a fortnight later for Il-2).
So, what's the oldest sim you still take a ride in? IL-2 1946

Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe. We have the winner! IIRC it beat CYAC out by a little bit. Only older sims I can think of would be FOTI, Falcon AT, Red Baron 1, and BOB:TFH. The Jedi Master

Still think mine is likely to be the earliest... by at least a few years, and more advanced in some ways than most that came out for some time. It had some *really* good design choices such as the control implementation in an era of 'digital' joysticks, and envelope limitations that were plausible; and vector graphics that represented around a dozen or so aircraft types in recognisable form (from MiG23 and Tu26 Backfire OPFOR, to Lightning, Tornado, Phantom, F-104, F-16, Typhoon, Victor (tanker), Vulcan, F-111, SR71 for training). The full mission was nigh on impossible (intercept two single Backfires making nuclear strikes on towns/airfields in the East of the UK, which were each escorted by a single MiG, armed with two Redtop and 30 'frames' of cannon ammunition... and not an enormously long range or enduarance ~ the best I ever managed was to splash all four aircraft, but only one bomber prior to hitting their targets... and then insufficient height/range to glide to a runway when the fuel ran out). Sub Battle Simulator, published 1987. I really do still play it, although in fairness I did not pick it up until 1992 or 1993, back when I had a 286/12. http://www.mobygames.com/game/sub-battle-simulatorI also have Silent Service 2, Great Naval Battles of the North Atlantic, and a few flight sims from the early 1990's (Operation Overlord & Navy Strike) but these are mere babies in comparison.

I think it's Jet Fighter from 1988, but have also many more sims running under DOSBox. I've recently revisited Chuck Yeager's Air Combat, still fun to fly today. Edit: it turns out I have also Tomahawk by Digital Integration from 1985 - that's 29 years old...

Chuck Yeager's Air Combat actually had quite good physics for its time.
The oldest one I have installed is GPL. Still my favourite racing sim of all time!
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

I think for me it's 688i Hunter Killer on steam. hmm I don't even keep a good track of the games installed on my laptop. That's a clear indication that a clean up is necessary.

Ticonderoga: Life and Death on the High Seas. 1995. Tough to find time to play because the missions taker 1-5 hours to play, but I still love it.

Built this machine just over a year ago for rFactor2. Oldest sim is rFactor1 from 2005. Other that that, rFactor2, Asseto Corsa, Stock Car Racing 2012, Armed Assault/Iron Front, DCS A-10C Warthog, and now Rocksmith 2014.
