I was too young to really watch Rockford Files when it first aired but I got to see him in some great films like "Space Cowboys" and "Maverick".

As hokey as Maverick was, I loved it when Garner showed up. Good natured fun movie. As I've said before, Space Cowboys is like a fictional sequel to the Right Stuff. Gotta love the cast and story. Rockford was cool. Mainly I liked the theme song and the car, I was pretty young then. I've never seen Hour of the Gun or the Americanization of Emily, but those are on my watch list now.

I only really remember him well in The Great Escape but have noticed him in a lot of other shows..just one of those guys that seems to fit in whatever he was in.
When Clint goes it will be a sad day indeed for me, love his stuff and he just seems like one of those tough guys that will be around forever.
During behind the scenes for the old movie "Grand Prix" (in the same era as "Grand Prix Legends" racing simulation), it was pointed out that the actors were almost hopeless at the wheel of the old F3 cars. Except Garner...who had a really good lap time...enough to be quietly offered a job racing professionally!
Apparently he did seriously consider it!
This was LONG before the Rockford Files came on.

Love Toshiro Mifune's role in "Grand Prix".
