Sweeeeet! Bought into the Kickstarter edition early 2013 - it's probably too late to upgrade to the Beta version now?

Looking good, didn't know this was in the making. What does it play like? Loved games like privateer, freelancer and so on. It's an open world space sim with a HUGE, procedurally generated universe. Currently we have access to ~ 50 star systems, but in the release we'll basically get our galaxy with 400 billion stars. No typo. All stars and constellations you see are no simple backdrop texture, but the real universe. The breadth of this game is simply stunning. In ED you're a ship captain. You're not the saviour of the universe or the greatest hero of humanity. It's just you and your little rust bucket and a handful of credits. See what you can do with that. Right now you can trade, hunt NPCs or players or engage in various, simple missions. The full game will feature a complex NPC system that generates missions and where your actions can actually influence a system or your standing towards the various factions. Even with the (still) limited content it's already a fantastic game. If you're a fan of the original ELITE or space sims in general and can deal with the usual beta problems go get it NOW! Seriously.

Absolutely seconded. I just wanted to add that, even if some- most of the content is missing, there's going to be planetary flight and landing, First person interaction-exploration, even hunting alien life forms on planets surface. In depth modding-tuning for the ship and even Multi player crew. How much of this will come and when it's still to be defined, but so far Frontier has managed to deliver what they promised and then some. I shelled out over 100€ and if the development would stop in a month I'd still consider my ,money well spent. But that's me, an old time lover of Elite, Elite II and III.

I'm loving Elite Dangerous at the moment. It plays beautifully, and the combat is insanely good fun.
My only gripe is the Federation ships are a bit buggy and tend to ram you head on killing you outright. I've had to restart twice because of this as I couldn't afford the insurance to replace my Eagle.
Funnily enough, it reminds me of the old Elite games.
As Komm said above, £100 quid for a game I have been waiting 20 years for is a bargain

I lost my brand new Cobra last night after only having it for about 20 minutes lol but I love the game so have no problems starting again The speed at which you can amass credits needs slowing down considerably as I went from a Viper to the Cobra in pretty much an afternoon and early evening. If it doesn't slow down we'll all have tons of money, top ships blinged out with all the equipment really quickly. I'm sure that's something they're aware of though and will tweak.

I'm seriously considering this... I got the distinct impression too that with 1.03 it's really easy to get moolah... How to slow it, though. THe absolute deal are those single canister rush-delivery missions. Compared to Premium beta, where it took me an hour to double my initial 1k creds, the first night on beta 1.03 I amassed 20K in the same time... Probably then, by nerfing the reward for those andor increasing docking feefuel costs. I must admit that this is a very VERY delicate subject...

Just finished trading in my brand new Hauler so I can FINALLY buy me a Viper! :P I found 4 C2 pulse lasers worked well but you obviously reduces your jump range and Vipers shields go offline very quickly so beware.

More than worth it. Was worth it when I paid £100 but you don't have to pay that, just wait until its released and pay £35.
