nice! 2 new PC's are on my list also. but im going to hold out till 2016.
nvidia pascal and intel skylake-e are on my hit list.
these two architechures are supposedly 3-4 times the jump in current gen products- and if so, that is a massive leap.

a tid bit about Skylake (in general)

"Interestingly, Skylake will also support PCIe 4.0 that offers a link bandwidth of 16 GB/s -- double that of PCIe 3.0 and far in excess of the bandwidth required by any existing graphics card. Finally, Skylake incorporates the latest AVX 3.2 instructions and SATA Express functionality which should significantly enhance the transfer speeds of hard drives and SSDs."

g27 mod to 350 mm steering wheel went bust. couldnt find a nice enjoy wheel to incorporate into my setup. how ever i did upgrade my springs on my cyclics, from 8.5lbs to 4 lbs, the feeling is quite smooth and remarkable, and still has a the capability to re-center (intended)

i was getting tired of working the cyclic applying about 3-5 lb of force on the stick, now it feels more like half a pound...

not as tight as the HOTAS warthog, but not so loose like the CH fighter stick... resistance is in between the two.
thank you ebay for the springs, because the first time i had to cut my own springs, that was a female dog.

I'm curious about your setup for the chairs... why does it seem to be a box-within-a-box? Any chance of more pics or maybe your plans?

ill take some more pics when i finish up my current project.
im trying to invert the G27 pedals, and raise it the pedals higher, i come to find out that im getting nerve pain from the pedals being to low.

my box-withina-a-box was my attempt to make things modular.
the chair revolved around the cyclic, inside the cyclic is a huge pillow block bearing with a centering assembly, i tried to make it as compact as i could, but i grew into a box.

but this "cyclic" box can be removed in place of another box-like-adapter in which i can mount either the G27 wheel or the warthog flight stick.

i have an apt. also my first sim rig was a large platform. it takes an hour to setup, and it was only for flight sims (no driving)

so what ever you see on this thread is version 2 of my sim rig, i try to compact it to the base of the chair, and incorporate attachments so i can have it as either a fighter jet, helicopter or car configurations, in which i can interchange in less than 5 mins.

Thanks!

I got a pair of car seats that I'm currently stumped as to how to make a stand for them so I'd greatly appreciate any ideas. I really like how your stands look and being able to put in a driving setup would be cool! I'm primarily be going for a side-stick setup for my flight simming so having an option to "center-mount" the steering wheel as needed would be good, especially as I bought Project Cars during the winter sale!

awesome! i bought project cars also!!
i had assetto corsa, but i was getting frustrated getting into public servers, and i really wanted to test out my newly hand made sequential shifters..

i bit the bullet and bought project cars cause it was cheap. it was fun being in a driving setup.. but assetto corsa physics feel way better, with project cars a tad bit on the arcadey side.

if your building a homemade car-like driving setup / pit, i would suggest a table-like solution, and not what i have with the post in the middle. my post is sufficient in which i can make it adaptable to my TM warthogs, but it is daymn annoying doing toe in braking, the post gets in the way.

im planning to make inverted pedals. maybe higher and father can alleviate the annoyance of the post in the middle being in the way. which leaves my second suggestion. make sure you the base of pedals compared to the top of the chair is less than 10". if your both your pedals and chair sit on the ground , and the chair is high (such as an office chair), you could be in for carpal tunnel in your legs. your legs so be almost straight ahead. (i am learning this the hard way)

here a recent photos i took including my box-in-a-box. good luck with ur design! smile

Hannibal, any chance to see the 'innards' to your helicopter cyclic? I just bought a Flightlink cyclic, which I'm thinking about returning within the 10 day window just because it doesn't seem to have the resolution required to accurately fly using small inputs. I fly helos at my job, and know for a fact I could hold a stable hover in a real UH-1 if I needed to, but I find the job easier with my G940 than with Flightlink's solution.

After some investigation, I figured out that they use a gear reduction drive from the gimbal to the pot, which increases the control resolution, but upon further inspection only provides about 800 and 1000 data points in the X and Y axes respectively. It's a 12-bit resolution board, so it has up to 4096. I suspect this is why it seems hard to find the 'sweet spot' to hover without any drift.

With Komodo's Rich seemingly down and out right now with personal issues, and no idea whether or not he will return to manufacturing, I'm thinking very seriously about building my own. I'm not a mechanical genius, but I'm good at copying, which is why I wouldn't mind seeing how you tackled this. Your builds look incredible, and if they are as functional as they look, I imagine they are great fun. Thanks for your time!
