The Ilya is a surprisingly tame aircraft to fly. I even managed a fine landing first time out. An interesting setting and plane set.

That's the perfect word for it! It looks Heath Robinsoneque, with it's long, long wings, strange fragile looking wheels and 1910s omnibus front. It says a lot about aviation of that time that people where convinced to go into action in one of these.

I haven't perfected it by a long chalk, but I have had success with some throttle, keeping about 85-95 kph (empty, with 50% fuel), a slight flare at 3m and effectively flying it onto the ground, not chopping throttle until well established on the landing run.

The busted one was my victim in an Alby III.

I'm not sure how complete the modelling is. It feels too tame in taxi and takeoff - it doesn't exhibit the big adverse effects of aileron of the Gotha for instance, even though those ailerons are pretty big, it tracks straight as a die on takeoff and seems too predictable for something so squirrelly looking.

It was an easy aircraft to fly by all accounts. It helps that unlike the Gotha, the engines have counter rotating props.
