Okie, did my first two trading runs, and comparing prices (in a spreadsheet I've made), I've come to the following tips for initial trading for now.

Azeban City - Beagle 2 Landing (Asellus System) route

Azeban: Buy Fruit & Vegs (profit ~120 per item), then Coffee/Tea/Animal Meat (all around ~310-320 profit) as you can afford them.
Beagle 2: Buy Animal Monitors (profit ~120 per item), change to Terrain Enrichment System or Consumer Tech (profit ~430 each, I'm unsure if Personal Weapons is an illegal item, if not change to that, it is ~600 profit)

Of course, once the demand for an item has been met, things have to be reevaluated. biggrin

I haven't checked what the other nearby systems gives you in profit margins - but this is a pretty safe run and will let you easily build up some starting capital to either upgrade your ship, or buy a new one.

Last night we had two people on each end of the trade routes telling everyone the highest demand items and then they flew back and forth a few times.

actually

Aulin agri meds <-> Bootis fish is the best early moneymaker, and swapping out agri meds for terrain enrichment systems as you can afford it.

You can make some good credits with simple delivery missions obtained from the bulletin board. Some of them pay up to 5.000 Cr for a simple jump to the next system with a single ton of cargo.

Always check the bulletin board for delivery missions before you sell your cargo. I once hauled Terrain Enrichments to Azeban City, sold them, then checked the board and there was a mission paying 5k for delivery of Terrain Enrichment systems - duh!

Transport missions pay the best so I haven't done any combat ones as they aren't worth the risk. More credits and I might risk it.
