Don't know when this went Free to Play. Might want to give it a try.

Heh, looks like the game didn't do so well from a membership/financial standpoint. Can't say I'm surprised.

It's ok, but your usual running your ass off here and there for repetitive combat. Not a bad looking game though. You do run into Nolan and Irisa, but I don't know how far that goes on that storyline. I pick it up again every now and then, but it gets old again.

Yeah, repetition seems to be a pitfall of pretty much all MMO's.

The only MMO I ever played was WW2 Online but I dumped it after 4 years.

I have played several MMOs in the past (SWG, WoW, FFXIV, TERA, plus other smaller MMOs), and even though I just started playing Defiance last night, I haven't been sent on any quests to collect rat tails or bundles of wood.

No, it isn't like that. At least it IS combat. The weapons are cool and plentiful, but hard to compare to each other to know what's best. I think they go for a Borderlands kind of feel to it. I'll update mine and run sometime with you if you stay on there.
Played another 3 hours last night. While I appreciate what it has done so far, I can definitely see how it will get monotonous and repetitive.
In a way, it is like RIFT and FF14. It forces you into a multiplayer group environment often, and you don't mind joining up with others. In that sense, it is doing a very good thing. Fast travel was easy to pull off, once I figured out how. I think a lot of its ideas are quality.
As for feeling like Borderlands? Definitely. But I enjoyed Borderlands more. I have yet to play BL2 however.

The game makes a little more sense to me after I have started watching the Syfy series. I didn't even know about the show before, and they are on their 2nd season.

I wish the game was more like the show (more story) and the show was a little more like the game (more aliens and action).

How true...
Really makes me wonder why there is/was no "Firefly" game.

My guess would be because it was a show that only aired 11 episodes before cancellation and while there is a significant fanbase out there I don't think there are enough gamers among those fans to merit the making of a game unless we're talking about a bargain basement budget.
