Have seen tons of pics of the game lately, but still didn't investigate what exactly it is. What I can found at the moment is, limited planeset, rather expensive and limited to a map (and winterseason?). But is that all the true? The guys playing it are very happy, but what are the plans for this sim? More planes and maps?
Thanks.

If in doubt wait until it's released in September, we'll know a lot more then.
At the moment it is a fun game with 8 aircraft (10 in the premium version), 9 of which have been released. The game features two maps, Stalingrad and a small online fantasy map, both are snow covered. A second historical map by modders is due around the time of release. For gameplay there's a quick mission builder as well as online dog fighting.
Still to be added are the HE111 and the single player campaign. As to future expansions with new maps and aircraft, nothing has been officially announced.

I see is a great looking game with nice FM. But pretty limited ATM. I will follow your advice and wait until September.
Thanks.

and a small online fantasy map, both are snow covered. Not important, but is not really a fantasy map, the online Lapino map is the region G-Hx9 of Stalingrad map. Sokol1

waiting for He-111, also what I'd love to see is some heavy bomber on soviet side (historical accuracy aside ) Stratos, the feeling of flight and shooting is fantastic IMHO

Well, once the original plane set is complete there's no rule that says they can't make one. All that matters for now is relevance to the BoS itself (so no Me262s!). I wonder if the plan is to add future theaters into BoS (making the name increasingly irrelevant) or if they will make separate titles that hopefully allow you to use the same planes.

Yes, so long as this first installment is a success.

I know they're planning on expanding if it's a success, I was questioning rather the method in which it would work--separate title, expanded BoS itself, or a separate title that would merge with BoS?

Hopefully it'll be like 1946 was, seamless (whether as an expansion or a merged product). Multiple executables is a little silly.

The Jedi Master ***Sticking my neck out here*** All speculation and opinions***** I think new titles will be merged with BoS. Il2 stumovik is the core brand - maps and battles fall into it. ***Sticking neck farther out**** I think Battle of Moscow is possibly next. Why? 1) that was the map under development post CLOD release. Yes, dated of course http://www.simhq.com/_air13/air_465a.html2) comments about next planes from devs, like I-16 http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/3780-long-term-plan-future-bos/?p=80398http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/3780-long-term-plan-future-bos/?p=804603) BoS documentary videos of I-153, I-16 and Mig3. Why did they spend money on this research? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ah8PtBnHO8&list=UUCsjBBYBk321cTtRF9yCOhQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wTZjYGyl-4&list=UUCsjBBYBk321cTtRF9yCOhQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kODgH2g_8pY&list=UUCsjBBYBk321cTtRF9yCOhQ&index=434) Luftwaffe plane sets workload is "less" to develop: Bf109E, Bf110, maybe Ju88, etc 5) Sponsors want to capitalize the momentum and on the Eastern front. Sponsors have rich home market demand. Get the engine's features and bugs worked out and build loyal revenue base, then consider theaters outside of East. Of course the next map could be any number of Barbarossa battle fields with the above plane sets. *** retracting neck now*** Waiting for my can of beer

Pacific or bust! I want to fly US and Aussie naval flights in something slightly higher fidelity/quality than multiplayer 1946 I honestly can't even remember the last time I've seen a Thunderbolt or Lightning in a "true" modern flight sim in a loooong time (I don't consider 1946 anywhere near modern).

isn't CLOD sompletely different engine? Then the hypothetical Moscow map would have to be developed from scratch for RoF/BoS engine Yes, it's a different game engine. But the research they did for the Moscow game is still relevant.

Pacific or bust! I want to fly US and Aussie naval flights I hear you ole boy. Pitching deck, carrier ops with personnel on deck (passive) would be nice step forward. AI crew even better like LSO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfkwjU8k6W4

One thing sims have yet to do is impress me at all with infantry combat, but I'm hoping the rumors of some sort of basic infantry for BoS eventually come to fruition. Rise of Flight could have really done with massed infantry charges considering the war was so ground-centric. Wars are won by a whole lot of boots on the ground and the support of said boots, not silly duels in the sky But I digress.
