The Hanriot HD.1/HD.2 has been released.

The HD.2 floatplane version is a gem.

Lovely! I wonder if anyone has ever thought to make a catamaran out of airplane pontoons.

When trying to update to the new version, I get the following message: ‘Failed to perform update, see update.log file for details.’ But the update.log file has not been changed since I installed RoF on my new computer. I tried to update since yesterday; no luck. Is this a known problem, and if so, are there known solutions?

The recovery option does not work either. When starting the game online I get the message that I should update it, so there is some contact between my computer and the RoF server. Can anyone suggest what to do next?

Try this (I also had problems logging in after this latest patch was rolled out, and this is what worked for me):
  1. Run the Recovery option.
  2. After running the Recovery option, run the standard update routine again and see if the server sees that a new update is available. If so, let it download and install.

Had the same problem some time ago. Reinstall helped.

Thanks, Luke and Comes. Recovery does not work either. Before I do a full reinstall I'll wait a few days to see whether it is perhaps a 777 server issue. I hope Jason is reading this post too...

I installed and updated the freeware version and all is fine now. The HD 2 is fun to fly, but is its low speed rudder sensitivity in the water not a bit too high? It is much more controllable that I would expect.

The larger rudder was shown to be more effective than the HD.1-style rudder.

Yep, in fact Willy Coppens had that same type of larger rudder fitted to his HD.1, which he himself stated improved the handling of his plane.
