http://robot6.comicbookresources.com/2014/07/ultimate-spider-man-arrested-in-scuffle-with-nypd/According to The Daily Beagle, a police officer confronted the webslinger Saturday afternoon after overhearing him demand at least $5 from a woman a posed for a photo with, instead of the $1 tip shed offered. When the officer told Bishop that he couldnt require payment, the wall-crawler responded by cursing and telling the cop to mind his business.
When Bishop couldnt produce an ID upon request, the officer moved to arrest him. Thats when things got spider-crazy, with Bishop allegedly punching the unidentified cop in the face as they wrestled to the pavement. Another officer help subdue Spider-Man as other patrolmen arrived.
A crowd of fellow mascots, including Elmo, Batman and a side-by-side Mickey and Minnie Mouse, also stood watch, their fuzzy mitts held to their giant heads in apparent disbelief.
The injured offer was treated for a cut and swollen eye. Spider-Man was charged with assaulting an officer, resisting arrest and criminal mischief. - by J. Jonah Jameson. Chief Editor

they've had lots of problems with the people that dress up for pics w/visitors then demand money.
Don't allow them there without a vendors license will cut down on half the losers...

What else would you expect from NYC? Lol.
I remember seeing an overweight guy dressed as Batman when I was last there a couple years ago. Vegas is the same, lots of loons on street corners wanting money (Vegas had illegal water vendors on every corner and cards for hookers littering the streets for the extra Vegas flair though).

illegal WATER vendor ? whaaaaaaaaaaaaat ? the card hoooker is a good idea, but america is too prude for progress Prostitution is legal in Nevada but not within the Las Vegas city limits.

It's an extremely common thing with local Mexican immigrants. As for the hooker cards thing there's classy and then there's Vegas. I don't think it's really a prude thing in this instance.

I wish South Florida had similar laws.

Vegas had illegal water vendors on every corner I think you're confusing Vegas with Arrakeen.

It concerns me that they moved to arrest him for not having an id on his persons. But knowing what he was hawking and his behavior that incident doesn't bother me as much as it seems he was being belligerent but still when I read that sentence in a headline it bothers me. I wouldn't look too far into it. He was acting like a complete nutbar and breaking the law while he was at it. The refusal to show anything saying who he was was just one more checkbox in the WTF department.

Yes, I think the number of times when a cop moves to arrest someone, that person says "hell no!", and the cop then does NOT arrest them is...zero? It's like the morons that lead the cops on chases. Even in the rare cases when the cops lose them, it never takes long for them to be caught.
An arrest is not a conviction. The better you behave the sooner you get released and the less bail may be. You take your anger to your lawyer and you let THEM open the can of whoop ass if it was unjustified. Shouting down or even more stupidly ATTACKING a cop is like saying "hey, I'm too stupid to be allowed on the street."
