Its that time of the week again, so come and join us for the last military monday of july 2014! We've got a new one from me which should prove a challenge, in which CSAT forces have been tasked with destroying an FIA arms cache in the thick woods of chernarus! After that, it's library time again! 1am UK, 8pm EST

Well I got a late start, but once I joined, had some quality play. Great missions, searching that building with Brennus was pretty well done. Better comms might've stopped Fridge and I from nicking each other briefly with an errant bullet, but still... Looking forward to exploring the new addon set next week!

I really should have pulled back when I saw you. I knew Alpha was in the building and we were covering the parking lot but I didn't get to see a live enemy until we started moving up the hill to the extraction point. Bad discipline on my part :-)
Fridge ---------- Things which do you no good in aviation: 1) Altitude above you; 2) Runway behind you; 3) Fuel in the truck; 4) The airspeed you don't have.

Bad discipline on my part :-) Same for me. I noted the pause before any shooting... we were both wondering. Your player was just a silhouette in the doorway on my screen. We needed to have something identifiable, like a chemlight on the shoulder or something! I should look at a script for something like that.

That Ghost Hotel mission was brutal this time; but it was fun watching the AI play cat-and-mouse with everyone. Dead Meat was pinned down on the top floor for a good 3-4 minutes by one AI dude that kept suppressing him. Then as DM would hide and wait, the AI would move to a window and start shooting at other players on the ground; and just kept going back and fourth between everyone until finally everyone stormed in
Good times all around!
that "AI" was actually me, i took control of a fair few AI chappies and sprung surprises, made it a bit more interesting in the hotel etc etc

Yes, attachable chem-lights/IR strobes would be fantastic! I built such a system yesterday. The function is easy enough. But the results are disappointing, mostly due to how the chemlights are modeled. With an ordinary light source, like a flashlight or lantern, the viewer's eye is comfortable looking at the subjects illuminated by the light source, while looking directly at the light source itself is largely uncomfortable and usually undesirable. In Arma3, this is simulated pretty much OK. With a chemlight, the reverse is largely true. The light falling on a subject is very low, and may not be enough for comfortable viewing of the subject. Most importantly (and totally missing from Arma3) is that looking directly at the chemlight source is not uncomfortable, and is in fact key to their usage. It's not a huge wash of light that I expect to see a friendly emitting... But simply the clear and colored emission source by looking directly at the chemlight on your shoulder. I have yet to be able to achieve this kind of effect via scripting my own light sources.
