Is there such a thing as "Peak Washing Machines"? Or can we keep making them forever?

As they only last 5-10 years on average, and the number of people keeps increasing, unless the cost of water and electricity suddenly shoots way past the cost of paper plates, we can keep it up forever.

Anyone ever notice the strange environmentalist dichotomy on that one?
"Conserve water and electricity, use paper or plastic plates!"
"Save trees and prevent further landfill clutter with plastic, use washable plates and cutlery!"

Pick whether you like trees and hate garbage and water or hate trees and like water and garbage.

The solution, of course, is to eat Pizza which is plate and food at the same time!

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

More firearms sold than phones? More than Mcdonalds? I find that hard to believe.

Um...

McDonalds is the number of customers.

The guns is the amount of dollars sold.

Meaning not at all the same thing.

Some of the dollar values are listed as net, while others appear to be gross sales.

Its worth considering though, that a McDonalds combo might be $10. While accessories for a firearm can easily top $100 and much further than that. And the guns themselves can range from under $200 to more than $10,000. But there is no way guns are sold faster than McDonalds products!

All modern economies are reliant on a high level of consumer spending and debt. It's how an economy is able to generate a falsely high standard of living.

I'm assuming more people have pets than babies. That or they're feeding their babies pet food (I'd rather eat that than baby food).

The fact that gas station hot dogs isn't 0 and staying 0 is probably the most frightening part of the whole thing.

Dogs can weigh 100lbs and eat a lot of food, and people can have multiple dogs and cats and things at once.
Babies weigh 10lbs or just over, don't spend that much time in their lives eating baby food (only that brief time as bottles go away and teeth are coming in), and don't eat that much of it.

So yeah, in the entire time a family with 2 kids needs to buy baby food it will pale in comparison to how much pet food they need to buy during the pets' lifetimes.

Are you talking about the 7-Eleven hot dogs?

Shouldn't that read "Grilled" hotdogs, though?
