Interested to see how the respawn system works and what items they use for persistance/storage.

Q.An update on tents and persistent items?

Rocket - It's been on and off several times in our internal version. Other programmers optimizations and changes have tended to nuke it, as it is very sensitive to inventory system changes which has been a very active area of development.

I just asked Brian, he said we might be trying out today internally and then we will look at pushing it to experimental this week for testing prior to a stable push at the very end of the month.

Sweet
Besides my char, now I'll also have to worry about a fridge in an obscure village or a bloody tent I set up on the other side of the map biggrin

Cheers,
Slug

I have been putting some serious thought into tent locations for a while now. The best one i ever had in the mod was hidden behind and tight up against the lone house just North of the NEAF, never raided or axed to death. They have put a well there now though so that's out. Definitely won't have anything on the edges of the map or up towards the top..i bet you that's where all the SA only players put them at first with no experience from the mod. Plenty of nice little spots around the map, just hoping they aren't as visible as they were in the mod from a distance.

off the beaten path.

basically, not on the coast, the top of the map, near the airfields, etc.

I think I put one on a cliff some where, it was a PITA to get to, so it was safe, and well away from any structures/areas people head too.

-Persistence has almost no effect on performance (it simply does not affect you on the basic level)

-Loot respawn has no effect on performance

-Server performance with the latest changes improved greatly

-Dropped notes and dropped items know save across restarts, they took out tents for some issue but they will back in a few days. Containers, backpacks or clothing with items will save across restarts but the items within are not yet.

-Server state will save if crashed.

This is exciting news can't wait to see it in stable. I seem to remember a certain forest that served us well in the mod across multiple servers and seemed like times it was found was from the hacking more than players stumbling upon it. Now no one go blurting out the actual location it was after all a closely held SHQ secret!

I've got a bad feeling about this.....

I actually have a toon currently using the car park there now. Got a fuel truck, Ural and a 47 camped there. It's no pvp, the sarge ai are merciless though. If you can get your humanity up the survivor ai actually will help defend you.
