Actually we could set up a side arm IDPA style competition on certain maps and levels in 3 different categories: Webley, 1911 and luger.

That would make it a better tactical shooter.

Take a look at a run in each categories.

Once in 4share, click the download button, the clip is so much of a better quality and the bigger file is only 135mb.

The problem with some of you, is that you want ALL games to be hardcore, tactical masterpieces based on your opinions and ideas... but that's not the case with gaming, it's impossible.

SE3 is awesome for what it is, and what it was intended to be from the designers from the get go. (if you ever watched any of the making of vids.)

Problem?...lol!

That game is anything you want it to be!...

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, not carved in stone!

There is no trespassing in the meaning of a game, otherwise it would not be a possible room for "mods". Moreover, some games have been at their best once moded!...

We are in SimHQ, in the tactical simulation chapter, right?

You don't have a monopoly on the definition of how games must be used, and defining it as a problem when it sways from your perception of the world!

And this is just my 2 cents!

Sniper Elite 3 never had the pretense of being something like ArmA 3 and I accept the game the way it is. I enjoy it even though I also fully realize that it's hardly "realistic" compared to some other tactical games like Arma 3 or the early era Rainbow Six games.

I have no clue what you just said in that counter...what? argument? lol

My point was in general, about gaming in general... we've debated this before, just because we call this the "Tactical Simulations-General" sub-forum doesn't mean we cant talk or post about the less tactical shooters... no need to start a new sub-forum called "less tactical or casual". (Unless the new owner wanted to of course, lol.)

No, but to say the problem with a game is that it's not what it never pretended to be is inaccurate.

I've never seen anyone say "The Toyota Corolla is an ok car, but the Porsche 911 beats it in the 1/4 mile every time! How can I take the Corolla seriously?"

It's one thing to want a competitor to the 911. It's another to blame a car for not being as good when it never made the attempt to be one. Likewise it's one thing to want another tactical shooter, and another to denigrate a game that never attempted to be one for NOT being one.

A major point--absent the coop 2 player mode, SE3 is either a solo sniper only or a PvP MP game. Look at the other tactical shooters, all of which had multiple player coop as well as multiple AI teammates in solo. The fact that it does NOT have that indicates further that SE3 was not trying to compete there, either.

Which plays nothing like Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, Hidden and Dangerous, Arma, or OFP. Those games are tactical shooters, and when something like R6 Vegas comes along and clearly misses the boat on a lot of things, we call them on it.

If GR/R6/Arma are like DCS/Falcon 4, and Call of Duty/BF/MoH are like Ace Combat, then SE is like Strike Fighters. Whether you feel it's closer to the realism side than the arcade side is a matter of opinion, and to this day people will lament that Strike Fighters doesn't have aerial refueling or a dozen other things the more realistic sims have, but the fact remains that it sits comfortably BETWEEN them, not just a hair away from joining one side or the other.

SE is not a failed attempt at making an Arma competitor. It's about having fun killing Axis soldiers at long range. I mean, the Gray Wolf mission is absurd as they come with SEVEN ways to kill Hitler including a testicle shot and dropping a bell on him! How can we compare that to the original H&D? It lets you tag targets and then track them through walls!

This is accurate!...Moreover, I agree with you, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Great recap BTW!
