No you will still have the scenarios, but they are just that 'scenarios' where you have to kill an AI ship and nothing else, you cannot free roam. There is only that and MP and the release will be based on the MP but you can opt to not see anyone else if you wish, but at this stage you can't.

There's not too many controls, it's pretty easy to set up a scheme manually.
I use the trim for directional thrusters and other HATs for menus and such. Other than that stuff just gets mapped wherever it makes sense.

Will the first "normal" beta be just multiplayer fighting?
There never was something like an only MP fighting arena. In this case the standard beta release is a big expansion on the 6 star systems available for Premium Beta. We're going out for around 50/60 star systems... And as before it's a mix of legally privileged systems (ranging from anarchist to federal rule) with some star bases that allows you to go for trading,trafficking, piracy, a variety of missions (given by Bulletin boards- introduced right with beta) or simple exploration. LOL it's already better than other "released" games.

Nope. Trading Pirating Bounty Hunting Mercenary Opportunist who does all of the above Allegedly expanded from 8 to somewhere around 50 star systems to visit at the early beta stage. Even in the current beta there is more than just PvP fighting.

Cool, I'll practice over the weekend than (i did that on purpose  So I take it will be a massive multiplayer online deal? can we have squads and stuff and help each other out with trades? Well, it already that but it isn't like Eve Online where everyone is on one server, ED has shards so as it stands now it is possible to keep trying and eventually get the same shard as a friend and play but if you hyperspace/supercruise you risk being placed in completely different shards again. But with the grouping system it should (I say should because were not too sure how it'll work just yet) let us make a friends list maybe? And then join with friends I'm guessing, so any jumping will keep us all in sync.
