Outside of parts of the source code and a small % of Art Assets (3d Models, textures) and the requirement for a Falcon4 Disc, it's not even Falcon 4.0 anymore, its an entirely different sim.

Very nice. I haven't kept up the past couple years..but I was really impressed with BMS 4.32 - those 3D cockpits, lighting, and shadows in the cockpits were excellent..

That's why I put the smiley behind my comment regarding the 1998 release.
I though it was pretty much self-evident that BMS has fundamentally changed the original, 16 year old game.
And a few more shots from a campaign missions:

Capt. Todd Sheehy, Hog pilot, on receiving orders during Operation Desert Storm
Pretty much. For starters it's now based on DX9 instead of DX7 on release.
I never understood why the original Falcon was so ugly, when DirectX7 is capable of this...
...and this 14 year-old demo (see YT comments) runs smooth as silk on my 1.0GHz 256MB Integrated Graphics.
But anyway, the new shots look great! Not quite DCS MiG-21 but I love the dusk/dawn/nighttime shots I'm seeing with both sims.
The rusty wire that holds the cork that keeps the anger in Gives way and suddenly it’s day again The sun is in the east Even though the day is done Two suns in the sunset, hmph Could be the human race is run
Even EF2000 occasionally makes me take notice considering it's 640x400 and not even hardware accelerated. A very artistic use of 256 colors!
If you keep the lights off (dusk-to-dawn) the original Falcon 4 looks pretty good to me though, the pit and airfield lighting. The daytime skyfix (blue vs. pee-yellow) and Paul Wilson's 1024x768 pit also help.
I also like Jane's F/A-18's dusk-to-dawn (also DX7?) better than Falcon 4.
EDIT: TAW (DirectX 5.2, 800x600 8-bit CLUTs), a little too pink and purple at times but DID had some pretty good artists. What DX was Jane's USAF? WWII Fighters? Nice looking sims.

As mentioned in my edit above, Jane's WWII Fighters. Now that's pretty graphics!

Still without competition or worthy successor after all these years...
Can I hear an Amen? Love this sim and what the folks at BMS have done with it over the years.
Where would we be without the after-market modders/dev/artists? Think BMS, Team Fusion, BDG, and the world that TK let folks play in, and all the folks making Oleg's masterpiece better.
ps and you too Mark, I just can't play because I purchased SEF2000 instead of the original. Shame that.
Most of the appeal of EF2000 to me is the map and scenario, including the entire Scandinavian peninsula and a huge chunk of Russia (including Murmansk and St. Petersburg).
Imagine F4 meets EF2000...
And as with EF2000 with the Russians marching south I'll be wondering, is Sweden going to join NATO and help me out?
DID had a way with good gameplay. I could trade the Eurofighter for an F-16, even making it Soviet/Cold War.
