Started a around the world trip. I got a Northern hemisphere trip and a southern hemisphere trip. 36 stops for the northern trip and 26 for the southern. I started the northern trip first.
Started with Statesboro GA (KTBR) to Savannah GA (KSAV) For the trip I flew in a Phenom 100,
Next I flew from KSAV to Charlotte NC (KCLT) For the trip I was in the PC-24,
Next up I flew from KCLT to New York NY (KJFK) For this leg I was in the Falcon7x
Next up was KJFK to Gander Newfounland (CYQX) For this leg I flew a DC-9-33,
Now it was time for the Atlantic jump, CYQX to Shannon Ireland (EINN) For this flight I was in a 747-8i, Kind hard to see in the picture above, but the spec of light below the viewers lefthand side outboard engine is actually the Nimitz carrier group. ATC vectored me into a non ILS runway at night, after a 4 hour flight I was a bit upset and went around to gather the proper ILS runway. I rushed it and landed hard enough to get my right side gear to collapse. It was my first time attempting to land anything bigger than a 737 so the fact that I hit the runway was a win for me!
Next up it was EINN to London UK(EGLL) For this trip I was in the vintage Sud Aviation SE 210 Caravelle,
This landing was fun. Not sure why but the nose gear wouldnt come down. I cycle the gear a few times and eventually decided to land without the nose gear. Held the nose up as long as I could before genitally setting it down. Then tower asked me to take clear of the runway.............
Howdy Georgia Southern! If you ever fly over Columbus, GA let me know if they show the AFLAC building. Can't miss it, there is a duck on the face of it.
Does stock X planes look that bad or is that on very low settings?
"From our orbital vantage point, we observe an earth without borders, full of peace, beauty and magnificence, and we pray that humanity as a whole can imagine a borderless world as we see it, and strive to live as one in peace." Astronaut William C. McCool RIP, January 29, 2003 - Space Shuttle Columbia
Does stock X planes look that bad or is that on very low settings?
Pretty much. Looks a little better on higher settings, but its a pretty accurate view of default X-plane 10. Payware and Good freeware is required to make it look good, just as it is in FSX.
Got a bunch of payware planes over the holidays. Virtavia-C17, Excellent plane! very fun and rewarding to fly. SSG-E-170, awesome plane, fun to fly and just all around great. Only complaint is the 3D pit is kinda hard to push buttons if you arent staring striaght at them. FlyJSim Dash8 Q400. Awesome! fun to fly and great systems to work with. VMAXX 777 Worldliner Professional, Havent flown it yet but I have done engine starts. Awesome cockpit and tons of features. Its a study sim all by itself. RAMZZESS Sukhoi 100 SuperJet, Just amazing! So much detail, great system modeling too. Same guy that did alot of the work on the 777. SSG E-190 Same as the E-170 but a bit bigger..... Carenado-V35 awesome little VFR plane. Great system model and all around awesome detail. Fun to fly!
And some randoms from my contiuned flights around the world. These are from UHPP in Russia to PANC to PAYA. All with freeware aircraft. Couple shots from a flight over Japan too.
Decided to give my home airport a little life. I redid the taxi ways and gave some parking spots using WED and then added buildings and other stuff via overlay editor. I really wanted to get a geotiff and redo the whole airport but I could not get a geotiff that would work. Anyway..........
Shot before editing,
Same shot after editing....
And a shot from one of the parking spots I added.
All in all pretty easy to do once you get the hang of it.
