Thanks RSColonel_131st - I do my best
On with the last update to this thread from me ..
On the ground the modern British Army shows off some of it’s kit ..
You won’t find the Husky on your average Company Car list ..
Maybe I’m just getting old, but soldiers are looking very young these days ..
Firepower!
“OK, I want you to put down suppressive fire on that ice cream van ..”
Business end of a gimpy ..
SA80A2 assault rifle (can’t remember the name of the new sight fitted to this example, but the image quality and brightness is a huge improvement on the old SUSAT, which was revolutionary in its day) ..
Jackal 2 ..
Landrover RWMIK ..
Very large and very scary gold fish!
Filtration and aeration equipment needed to keep the goldfish’s tank clean (you should see the size of the fish net they use!) ..
Royal Engineers layout their demolition gear..
Didn’t know they used castor oil as a cutting agent in their shaped charges ..
105mm light field gun ..
May be just a
little too heavy on the foundation and blusher ..
Air drop-able fuel bladder with Bloodhound anti-aircraft missile in the background ..
Red Devil coming into land ..
Hidden away in a corner of one of Duxford’s hangers is a reminder from the First World War – this contraption is a field periscope, as used by the German army.
Foxhound ..
And finally my very own ‘foxhound’, Puskas (pronounced ‘push-cash’) - a seven year old Hungarian Viszla. “Puskas” means gunner or hunter in Hungarian, as well as being the surname of the ‘Galloping Major’, who helped beat England 6 goals to 3 at Wembley in 1953:
Wearing the lion main wig we bought her for Christmas (‘Oh, the indignity of it!’):
I won’t be updating this post any more, but will be starting a new thread soon featuring shots I took at the recent air show at RAF Waddington (one of Puskas’s many nicknames is “Waddo”!).
Thanks for looking and all the comments / feedback
