I've loaded my GT6 disc into my PS3 to see if some codes would work but I just hear a few humming noises and then silence and the game does not show up in the menu. I've tried a different game and that one (Disgaea) shows up fine and the PS3 hums along nicely. I checked the GT6 disc and it was clean and scratch/smudge/fingerprint-free. Still, tried a few gentle wipes with a soft cloth, put it in the console, and same effect --- it would hum a few times, then just give up.

Any ideas? Can I perhaps get the disc replaced at my local Game store? I bought the console (and the games) for Christmas but haven't touched it since.... January?

Dirty Laser Lens? (can Effect some games and not others depending on their pressing method)

Any tried-and-tested cleaning method? Or just a Q-Tip with alcohol?

The GT6 disc is dual-layered, supposedly if your PS3's blueray laser is going out it might have a problem reading it, see:

PS3 was bought new on Christmas 2013, so it's only about 6 months old. As for how worn it is, I'd say maybe a week or two's worth of use.

Ah cool I would try for a disk swap then from the store where you bought it...
