Hi all, I sometimes like to trim my aircraft to fly level - not worried about the aileron or rudder trim much. I find the DH2 very tail-heavy and have to constantly pull back on the stick which is tiring. The <home> and <end> buttons don't seem to work, and I don't get the display of 'angle' in the TAC information <z>. I also notice it doesn't work with the FE2b either. But it did work with the BE2c which I flew before.
Of course I know that very few aircraft had elevator trim adjustable from the cockpit in reality but why would something work with the stable old BE2c and not with the FE2b or the DH2 which are both much more agile.

I found the best way to trim these planes is to use the throttle. At full throttle most of them climb. Reduce throttle (often around 80 to 75% depending on altitude) to have level flight.

Yes I agree, corsaire, but why don't the home and end buttons work as they used to? I know I am beginning to sound like a computer user, but I am sure it did work with the BE2c and made life much easier. And showed the angle of the dangle in Z.

IIRC in OFF elevator trim keys were KP7 and KP1. Was that changed ?

My printed WOFF list says Home and End. And, as I say, they used to work with my BE2c. Maybe I'll take on another pilot and try the BE again and see if it works. It certainly doesn't with the FE and the DH2.

IIRC in OFF elevator trim keys were KP7 and KP1. Was that changed ? Stock CFS3 elevator trim is Number-Pad 1 and 7, as Corsaire mentioned. The WOFF command summary doesn't mention trim, but it probably still works unless the developers purposefully removed it for historical accuracy. (sorry, haven't tried it myself as I don't use trim).

KP 7 without NumLock is Home and KP 1 is End. So the right commands might be KP 7 and KP 1 without NumLock.

OK or rebind them to some other free keys Ok I have bound them to two keys on my joystick and that should work I hope.

Numlock set OFF and it all works fine now! The keyboard seems to default to Numlock ON so I have to remember to set it off before flying.
Of course most aircraft did not have elevator trim adjustable from the cockpit or any trim tabs at all. I do happen to know that the SE5a did have a trim wheel in the cockpit. Bill Lambert mentions it in his book "Combat Report".
And even the Me109 had no elevator trim according to Eric Brown.
