This was cheap so I bought it off GOG for less than $4. I bought this game because I don't care too much about graphics but wanted something semi real unlike the cheezy arcade ones out now like worldoftanks. I think the mid to late 90's were the ending point of true realistic tank sims as far as interior designs gameplay and armor penetration points. People would rather cheat today than try to defeat a Tiger tank. Anyways I patched the game to 1.2 and installed a mod called pex which updates a fair ammount of details and gameplay. I highly recommend this game. Another game I am trying to get is ipanzer '44 from interactive magice and panzer commander which both seem to be non existent on the net. A good ww2 tanks sim from the 90's...

John I can recommend strongly Steel Fury(Kharkov 1942) if you want a very good WW2 tank sim with more up-to-date graphics. Not as a rival to panzer Elite but as an alternative.

Our forum is there:http://graviteam.com/forum/index.php?board=1.0

SF is from 2008 thus with more modern graphics, physics etc Very actively modded like PE and with almost as many models of vehicles mostly Sov and Germans but with an increasing number of US and British ones as well.

PE does better in tactical terms and is cheaper though...

Frinik22,
Since I ranted on another thread, I thought I might as well type what I have wanted to say since you posted this

Exactly, you can not expect a woman of age to compare on par with a woman her junior. Each should be enjoyed for the woman she is.

wink and forgive her boyfriend if he rants about her beauty.

Hi Brit44 Aldo salute Well said this is in figurative terms exactly what I meant!

I saw a vid from Daskal featuring the King Tiger on the PEDG website. I was impressed by the new gun sounds and also the improved ballistics. Who made them?

...and you have to pray she's in mood to appreciate panzers and simulators, or you'll have a small communication problem! pilot

The KT is from Slomo's PP2x. I assume the textures are based on the ones Jochem made long ago. Not sure, you would have to ask Slomo. I assume Daskel made a new gun sound, if not it could be from the original PEDG sound mod. You would have to ask Daskel or Volcano Man. ChuckD, myself and Mad2physics came up with the bullestics code. It's not perfect since we do not know the drag Co for each shell, but I found a fire table for the M4A1 and added a slot to the gun data. After several weeks hobby time at the gunnary range, I came up with a variable for each shell that was used by player units in PE 1.2.

Hi Aldo,

Are you talking about this KT model ? Yes, this was made a long time ago by me, thanks to remember it ! I remember the time when we worked together with Geezer. Fortunately, the slomo's model is high above of my outdated model ! XD

Yes that is the KT I was refering to. I am sure I sent that model to Slomo stating that was the best KT we have for PE. If you want the files hosted in my Joe's and friends page, let me know and make sure I have the files you want hosted. Searching through old files, I usualy end up with older files.

Thank you very much Aldo. As you may know, I kept all the work, and it includes all the works for Panzer Elite in my archives. And the medal you gave to me for my participation smile

You can play the original Italy campaign using PEx, PP2x or PE3. PP2X has the most work at improving that campaign.

Sorry if I hijacked the thread.

And now I'm straying further off topic here...but is it not currently possible to play PE-x with Britpak '44 (or Monty -vs- Rommel)...other than by using PE3?

I thought we should move this from the PzC thread.

You are correct. Brit44 and MvR have not been converted yet. MY is thinking about updating MvR and Torch. I switched PEx from Brit44 to PP2x to help Slomo develop for the MP players. Then when Nordic Games decided to remaster PESE, I stripped out all of the PP2 bits and made it PE with the x engine and an example of each new feature.

The main thing both are missing to become -x is a drag Co for the British guns. I found a fire table for the 75 mm Gun M2. With that information, I was able to add a value to the gun data so each shell had the correct trajectory. Like the Germans. the British incorporated the range for each shell into the optics. It's a matter of test firing at the gunnery range to find the value that works best, then tweaking the optics model to match. After that, it's a copy/paste of the models, textures, unit data and scenarios.

Once a new firing rage is compleated in 24 bit, 128x128 pixal landscape version 1.04 will become the release version of PEx. Then I will revert my development install back to birt44, start coding LODs for the models and change the texture fromat from 16x16 pixal data to 1x1 pixal data.

The changes necessary to convert a PE 1.2 mod to a PEx mod are in the PEx readme.
