This was also documented on a video a while back, one of Hellshade's I believe... I think Robert may have had it happen on one of his too...
The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...

This has happened a handful of times to me including yesterday. Typically when I'm in a fight and there is a really loud sound such as fabric tearing off a wing or a minor collision the sound of my engine goes away and all is silent. I can hear other planes around me but my engine is completely silent. When I finish my mission and launch a new one all is as it should be. Happened to me this morning in a quick combat DF. The upper wing of a Pfalz collided with the wheels on my Spad. At first I also thought my engine went kaput. I checked other views and all that I tried had my engine sound missing, but not the sound of other planes.

Yes I had this happen once as well, some time ago followed by a loud ripping sound and then silence but my prop was still turning and I can't remember if it still was when I force landed out of fear I had no engine.
