put me on the list - adjutant Verne reporting in.

This is my first French pilot (sorry, but I prefer to be able to see my enemy), so it was the first chance to see the French main menu pics - man, I get a kick every time I see a shot of the Spad XII. I wonder if they ever made the designer sit up front as punishment? I don't suppose that plane's on anybody's wish list for the devs?

The good thing about the Spad XII was the 37mm cannon... Ask Fonck and Guynemer ! smile2
There were around 20 planes built, so I don't think it's a priotity...

37mm would be fun to try.
I bet it rolled the plane backwards if the plane was sitting on the ground.

The web survey has been changed on advice of Rick. Have a bash here: http://www.attrill.co.za/WOFFSPADsurvey.htm

It doesn't matter what numbers you put in as I will delete all test responses before you go 'live' on Saturday.

I fixed one field that wanted a decimal point. Now it takes numbers without decimals. The picture has been changed as well.

It was very difficult to use because the breech was taking a lot of room in the cockpit and the controls had to be moved. It was hand operated, which means after shooting you had to eject the empty shell and reload ( while still piloting your plane ) and when shooting the cockpit was filled with smoke, so you had to put your plane in a side slip for the smoke to get away. Only a handful of top pilots ( like Fonck an Guynemer who had the original idea ) were able to use it and have a few victories. I guess you only needed to hit once, and the cannon was shooting through the propeller shaft.

Ok I have added a few WOFF ID's to the first question. Anyway if your ID is not there add it under "Other" and I will fix the web survey.

I suppose you are referring to the "Conte de Monte Cristo". First name is Edmond, but your pilot might be a relative... smile2

oops, my bad - I meant to refer to the A2, not the XII, where the observer is right in front of the prop.

Yikes! Yeah, I had never seen that before... too bad there is no co-op multiplayer, we could stick ornery forum members in the front nacelle!

Being an observer in the A2 must have been quite an experience ! It has been mostly used by the russians who bought 60 planes.
As for France there were only 4 planes in operational squads on Jan 1st 1916 and 5 used as trainers.
