The more I've played Take On Helicopters, the more I'm coming to believe and regret that we might have missed an opportunity to have an updated Search and Rescue series based on TOH. I'm pretty sure development has ceased on TOH. With the animations, atmosphere, and capability of the mission editor (including cut-scenes and detailed briefings), I think TOH would have been a great successor to the SAR series. Particularly when you consider you can fly in Arma 2 maps, and you have first person capabilities including weapons capability, switching drivable/flyable units, etc...

sigh

On one of the individual rescue missions..I noticed that the sea-state can be changed according to the mission designer too. Tough to see in the screenshot, but the swell is quite well done as far as the animation of it..

Heading for the hospital to pick up a medic...

Enroute to the scene call...

One scene - deploying the medic to pick up the victims...

TOH has some of the best lighting and environmental effects in any sim...

A 2:30 time limit to race the victims to the hospital helipad...

thumbsup

Damn shame this sim is withering on the vine...it has a great mixture of sim/game elements...

There are some folks who have made random/dynamic aircraft missions for ArmA 3 that I find to be much more enjoyable than the ones from ToH.

Missions range from civilian medical evacuation, civilian search and rescue, military search and rescue, military ground forces insertion, military ground forces extraction (hot/cold LZs)

Edit: the author has been very generous with the trigger zones for these missions. Unlike ToH, you don't have to be within 1 meter of the waypoint to trigger activity.

Ah - interesting - I'll check those out. I'm very interested to hear more about the forthcoming Arma 3 Helicopters DLC.. I haven't heard much specific about it, but it would definitely be something that I'd probably buy.

It would be nice if the ToH random SAR mission was included, with the ability to use the winch.

I thought the SWAT missions had promise, but were done poorly. Excessive fast roping.

Would be nice to see an overhaul remake of SAR 4 in the ARMA III or TOH engine...
