Just installed DCS World. Can someone give me some hints on how to taxi and get this sucker (P-51D)to the runway and takeoff. All I do is go around in circles. Toe breaks (CH Rudder peddles) are backwards, tail wheel does not move with rudder and breaks seen to be on and off all the time. Landings are not easy for me as well. When I am able to land safely, I am not able to taxi per excuses listed above. By the way, I am not new to flight simming........though it seems like it!

Don't take it bad, but trust me... Read the manual.
No, I'm not trying to be smart but there's a great deal of good info you might actually need to properly fly that girl.

Show yourself some respect and get her right!
Manuals are in the DCS WORLD\Mods\Aircrafts\P51\Doc folder... or something.

Peace.

CH and Saitek rudder peddles both need to have the brake axis inverted/reversed in the DCS options axis control panel. I also recommend setting up curves and Y saturation to help soften the initial input of the brakes.

Left/Right brake:
Y Saturation = 85
Curve = -20
Slider selected
Invert selected

Would also recommend a curve of like 20-30 (depending on personal feel) for rudder control. Make sure rudder assist and take off assistance are off, you want to learn how to use those rudder peddles properly as soon as possible.

When taking off, RPM at full and you only need 35-40 MP to take off (if not loaded with weapons) and no flaps. This will help you control the torque.

Tail wheel - Stick full back to lock the tail wheel to the rudder, full forward to unlock.

Covered quite a bit here, try these things out and let me know if it helps.

Try the start menu, there should be a documentation folder inside the ED folder there. Sorry I don't have the exact wording, I'm away from my computer.

The big item that affects your ground handling is the tailwheel steering lock which is controlled by pulling and pushing on the flight stick. In the aft position your tail wheel is tied to the rudder pedals and has a small steering range. In the forward position the tailwheel is disconnected to freely pivot. For most ground handling use the steering-connected mode. Only use the steering-disconnected mode where necessary for tight turns at minimum speed.

Takeoff is absolutely difficult. Feed the power in slowly and apply counter rudder pressure very carefully. Avoid applying uneven weight to the wheels by any bank input. If you start to turn to either side reduce power and regain control. Adjusting various curves and deadzones might improve your control.

It's super twitchy and I don't know how 50% of all takeoff attempts didn't end in fireballs.

Thanks for every one's help. Takeoffs and landings still require full attention, but now going very well and smooth. It was the locking and un-locking of the tail wheel that I was doing bassacwards that gave me the most trouble.
Thanks again,
BadBud
