I've finally reached the point where there's no more parts to find, no more research to be done and no more excuses to be made.
Two recent blog entries:
http://www.f15sim.com/?p=315http://www.f15sim.com/?p=323I've been able to find the correct connectors to be able to restore the original interconnect cable that went from the SFS box to the cockpit floor. I'll be able to use the original cable sleeve to create a new cable that looks nearly identical to the original. I've also got the correct connector that will mate to the floor-mounted end.
I'm currently working on getting the second throttle quadrant rebuild done - the first one was a pre-MSIP quadrant that was missing parts that are required for the post-MSIP (Multi-Stage Improvement Program) build that I'm doing.
My friend Rob is building me a set of wooden framed side consoles that duplicate the dimensions of those in the cockpit. This is being done so I can use them as a wiring harness build jig. There will be a mockup of the firewall attached to each one so that I can properly form and assemble the wiring harnesses required for each side console. The idea is that when completed, I can pull the assembled wiring harness out of the build jig as a single part and drop it right into the jet. This is how the original wiring harnesses were assembled.
That's pretty much it for current work. The throttle quadrant rewire will happen first and then the harness layout will begin. It's going to be a neat summer I suspect.
