EECH 1.15.2RC4

This classic sure has some legs. The list of people who have modded and contributed to the continued evolution of EECH is long indeed. A few years ago Arneh put a lot of effort into upgrading the avionics and systems realism and now "thealx" has continued forward with major improvements. Some of the following screens don't represent the latest improvements but show some of the features we've seen over the past few years...

I love the Apache in winter camo...

The best thing about EECH is there is always something exciting going on in the theater...

The view through the AH-64D ORT (?)...

Live the spiraling effect of the Russian guided missiles...

A slight bug in RC4 is some of the helos are fighting with landing gear extended...

Cockpit in the cold & dark state. It is nice to start the APU, then go through the several step engine start process...

New revetments...

The CP/G seat...

The newer campaign theaters really look nice...

The FCR from the back seat...

I really enjoying flying the OH-58D...reminds me of the old Longbow 2 days...

Mutually assured destruction...

Impossible to put into images, but the ambient sounds of EECH are spectacular. The pop and crackle of small arms, the pounding thud of artillery, the ripping sound of Russian anti-tank missiles..all add to the atmosphere. Artillery barrages are particularly cool to watch...

And when artillery is in range of your FARP or airbase - that's trouble...

Nice new repair notifications indicate exactly what is being worked on and the status...

Tough to beat EECH for mood like rain, overcast, and poor weather and visibility... Working windshield wipers are a plus!

Hellfire away!

Persistent smoke drifting across the battlefield is nice...

The Ka-52 is one of my favorite aircraft. The business of the cockpit and the graphics are still pretty good all these years later...

Without question, the EECH campaign is one of the best ever. You are definitely a big fish in a small pond since you can aggressively shape the way the campaign unfolds. The planner and balance of power graphics give great insight into the status of the campaign. While the ground war could still use more work with advancing and retreating units, the air war is pretty good. With the ability to interdict supplies, grab FARPS (you can even seize FARP aircraft now when you claim a FARP), and set a strategy, the EECH campaign is extremely enjoyable and infinitely replayable.

The helo flight models have improved (I think we are one step past Werewolf's improvements at this point). The helos have some inertia and momentum and don't fly nearly as much as they were on rails compared to the stock FMs. It would be great if Arneh could get back into the modding too since he had some really cool features planned for the avionics: SEE HERE!

Fantastic work by thealx and all of the talented modders. I'm going to get back into EECH, but it will take some time to re-learn the piano playing HOTAS.

Well, Beach, a few months ago you convinced me to reinstall SF2 when you started posted SF2V screenshots. And now you may have just convinced me to reinstall EECH...

Sorry about that.. wink EECH is one of my enduring loves. Thing is - it has such complex keyboard commands that it will require me a week to program my HOTAS and get used to using it. There are just sooooo many things you can map to a HOTAS..

Nice feature - don't know how long it has been in there - the ability to selectively turn on/off different voices in game (ATC, wingmen, FAC, ground controller).. Nice when you don't want to hear all the ATC commands from that lady from New York..

Great stuff Beach, thankyou. Brings back some memories. Will have to get back into this soon. Just waiting on some screenshots of my favourite helo the Mi-28... you need to include that one too - especially that old school yellow monitor screen...

Are cockpits, FM etc now available for the Cobra?

I'm afraid this lovely orange CRT not here anymore. it was replaced with soulless LCD because of new Mi-28N cockpit that maybe will be released someday. in exchange - real symbology, not sure you can find it somewhere else.

Wow.

I had even re-purchased EECH from GOG awhile back when it came out there. Didn't know the mod was still actively being upgraded this much.

Looking forward to what's being cooked up. matrix

Great to see this still being updated and worked on!

And a bit nostalgic seeing those Apache and Hind cockpits, but they still look quite decent all those years later :-)

thumbsup The development story of EECH reads like:

Giants, standing on the shoulders of giants, who are standing on the shoulders of giants.. smile Seems like everyone who takes up the mantle does a fantastic job. And all of it goes back to the vision of Razorworks who really were way ahead of their time.

So - can we lure you back to do those really cool avionics upgrades? biggrin (You deserve some time off - you did so much for EECH!)
