This one got me. Also known as the "MoneyPac" scam, it renders your PC useless. There are a few fixes. The one I tried flashes a recovery OS onto a DVD with which you can scan and quarentine the offending files and registry entries. Unfortunately it also screwed with the boot loader. Since I was running Windows on an iMac through bootcamp I must admit to panicking a bit when I lost access to what was supposed to be the safe partition on my imac. In the end, once I figured out how to boot into OSX, the only solution I could think of was to wipe out the Windows partition entirely. Looking at the bright side, maybe a few more months without sims and games might be healthy.

These damn trojans,I just bought the full version of Malwarebytes just in case.My sister 'acquired' one of the ransom ones,it was a right pain to remove.
