I fell for this last time I think, Downloaded in it's entirety, and when the promo was over, My steam account no longer had the license to use it.

SkateZilla, I think you may be confusing this offer with previous ones which were so-called "free-weekends" (One of which is coming right up, BTW). In those cases, Steam users could download and play RS/RO2 for free just for the duration of the weekend as a trial. Today's deal is more akin to the Left 4 Dead Christmas give-away deal Valve had back on Dec 25. If you get RO2 today, you get a permanent license. See here:

Keep in mind that you get Red Orchestra II in this give-away, not Rising Storm. You will still be able to connect to RS servers in Multiplayer but you will be class-limited to rifleman. Still, if you have been thinking of trying out RO2, this is a great deal and I encourage you to grab it. RO2 comes with a ton of content with more coming out all the time. The upcoming free weekend will be the time limited offer but will include RS as well as RO2 (plus there are steep discounts to buy either over the weekend).

You keep the game forever. It has to be added to your account. This isn't a free weekend; it is a free copy. Assuming you claim it before the 24th.

Claimed my key. Not sure I'll ever use it but might as well have it.

Origin had a similar deal with Dead Space (1) going. The difference I think is that it was a limited time DL and install NOW deal. So if you install it now, you can use it indefinitely, but the game isn't permanently added to your account...so if you uninstall it for any reason you won't be able to install it again.

At least that's the way I read it.

As I already had RO2 and L4D2 when these deals happened, I don't know how they might differ!

either way I hit the install button, I didnt get any prompt for a key, so I might have missed out... no biggie.

the download went quick, because I already had it downloaded!, lol..from one of the free weekends I guess.

Good to hear, Skatezilla! Happy hunting. You likely won't be prompted for a key or license (it is done internally by Steam, I think). I got L4D2 on Dec 25 but didn't bother installing it at the time. It still shows up in my library. I think this was the same sort of deal. In any case, It was good to see so many full servers.

Steam told me the game had been added to my account. Then gave me the button to install.

I only see the Single Player option.. sooo...
