For January 1918.
I shot two down around January 11, 1918 in my campaign. I believe they were French since they were painted white IIRC.

As the game proceeds, some types disappear from the list when you make your claims. Use "one-seater" or "two-seater" [for the Strutter] if you can't find the type of machine you brought down. Of course your suggestion is reeasonable Nowi, but it may be something that can be fixed. We just have to wait to see what Pol's evaluation of the situation is. I also know that if you put the wrong aircraft type in your claim it increases the chance of rejection. Best Regards

Well, there is an option "Sopwith Strutter", AFAIK - that would describe ANY Strutter type and so it should work in case of doubt. I think in my case it did. (I never remember, which Strutter was called what name, so I select the above line in claims).

.
Keep in mind folks that, from an historical perspective, pilots seldom knew the exact model of the aeroplane type they were putting in a claim for. It was normal to see claims that stated nothing more than 'enemy two-seater' or 'enemy scout type' on actual WWI claim reports. Entente pilots for example often wrote 'Albatros type' for any of the Alb scouts, and later 'Albatros V-type' for the later models. All part of that fog of war thingy.

. Good point Lou! I guess as sim pilots we get caught up trying to make sure our claims are accepted. WOFF is far more forgiving than OFF was in this sense, so I guess we shouldn't get too concerned over it. It's just hard to get over old habits that we acquired in OFF.

Wow you are on a serious issue finding spree at the moment huh ? I've been playing quite a bit lately. Having been a beta tester at various times over the past decade or more, it's become habit. As the game proceeds, some types disappear from the list when you make your claims. Use "one-seater" or "two-seater" [for the Strutter] if you can't find the type of machine you brought down. The generic designations are what I've always used when something wasn't on the list. I also specify the exact type in the claim text although I'm not sure whether that will help or not. In this case I had one of the Strutter claims denied, but so is life. Those things put up a surprisingly good fight, I recall, so it was quite enjoyable. Must've been some experienced French Strutter pilots.

But my claim chances were still obviously penalized.
So it's just a quick fix for when you don't know or remember for sure, and not necessarily because the type isn't present in the list. No?

Well if you describe the action well it will be fine don't worry - it's a sim If we can add it sure we will, but as I say those other options are there for exactly that reason so use them when you have to. We have many other things to get on with so not a high priority one right now. It's not as easy as you think, but we could just add a massive list of every aircraft and forget sorting them maybe. I'd think the last solution would be the best, adding the whole aircraft list to all periods. But if it's too much work, then no biggie. Another idea.. would it be easier to eliminate the aircraft type penalty if it's mentioned in the claim text? It sounds like it could be troublesome going this route, with syntax issues and the extra work to do so. Since there's a bit of a workaround, it's not a big priority. Just wanted to report it.

OK checking yes the French used them until early 1918, RFC only until Oct 1917 at the front. We may be able to add them for 1918 for French types. Pol; You folks are amazing! I really don't know how you stay ahead of it all and your response to issues is unsurpassed by any other sim! I know you keep hearing this but I still can't get over it and have to voice it myself! Many Many Many thanks on behalf of all and I hope and wish that this sim sees some heavy sales and some well deserved donations. Best Regards;

Thanks for checking on this Pol. I know you guys are quite busy.
I've been singing WOFF's praises everywhere I frequent. Dunno how much interest it has brought you, but hopefully it's something. Love the sim and the work you guys have done.
