Thanks for the work you did adding in all the extra on the in-flight map, Nibbio.

I just noticed your mod on the WOFF site when grabbing the patch and just tried it out. Much more information on it than the stock map. Enjoying it!

beercheers

Installed that and now I get a blue map with an aeroplane in it. I am about to throw this whole computer out of the window. Things work today and an hour later they don't.

I never had trouble like this with OFF but this WOFF is driving me mad.

Completely random PC errors can normally be traced back to a failing power supply or a power supply that does not have enough power for all the equipment in the PC.

CPU = i9 11900K
GPU = RTX 3080 Ti

Jim your PC has problems, all these random errors are nothing to do with WOFF, and especially as you are modifying it with mods without fully knowing what you are doing. As Panama says sounds like PC power supply or memory problems get your PC checked out and please don't blame WOFF.

I agree there is probably a hardware problem in their somewhere Jim, but why don't you try completely uninstalling WOFF, reboot and then install and patch up OFF. If problems appear in OFF that you never had before, that should tell you something.

If no problems appear in OFF, then uninstall it, reboot and properly install WOFF including the latest patch (1.24). Do not load ANY mods and try flying it.

I am beginning to mistrust my hardware as I have had various hangups (nothing to do with WOFF). All the diagnostics I run say there is no problem. I did have some trouble installing WOFF, mainly that it would seem to stop installing and start again a few minutes later. Once it got to the last step - the cloning of the aircraft and stopped after about 20 out of 56.
This time I rebooted and disabled AVG, quit Skype and ProcessLassoo and anything else I could think of.
Anyway, I did as above installing WOFF and then patch 22 (the last I have on disk). All ok. Then do the DirectX 9 redistributable install. All ok. Then copy Nibbio's map (not using JSGME) all ok. Then install Hellshades screenshots with JSGME. All still ok. At this point I backed up the whole OBD directory just in case.
Last installed the Shading mod using JSGME. All is still ok now. Backed up again and WOFF we go copter

I do still wonder at the stop/start manner of the WOFF install - I suppose some of the files are very small and some are much larger. And I do sometimes wonder about Skype so don't run it unless I want it. Oh, I stopped TrackIR 5 as well.

Oh, and I really wanted the shading mod because it not only looks pretty but my FPS goes up!

If you're having blue graphics and various types of performance hitching, even installing software in Windows, then you may have a hardware issue.

The power supply mention is valid, as is a faulty motherboard. Graphic artifacting suggests it could be a faulty video card but you wouldn't have stalls during installations so this all kinda points to either not enough power or a bad motherboard.

My UPS says I'm running at 42% load if that means anything (which I doubt). How can I tell how much power is actually being used in Watts?

That's the twist.. I don't think there's an inexpensive way to reliably check the load on your power supply (amps being used) so it's always been using deduction for me.

If I suspect my PSU can't keep up under a heavy load (usually it's the video card wanting more than it can give and the gfx borking out or blue screening) then I end up getting another power supply that works (or a new one), replace the old one, and try it out to see if it's still dying.

Unfortunately, if it's still doing it, the issue is probably with the motherboard. Since that's where everything runs through, including some of the power. I've rarely had video cards outright die unless there was a big power surge - it's usually one of the other two (PSU or Mobo).

Note: Your UPS will only tell you how much your power supply, and whatever else is plugged in, is drawing from the AC in your home. Not how much DC your power supply is putting out to the computer parts.

Is there an easy way to change the color of the player's aircraft on the in-flight map?

It blends in with the forests' green color so well that I can't see where I am when over some of the larger ones. Not all too pressing because you can guess by where the red mission route lines are but some color variation would help.

If you go into the ui.xml file, I believe that there is a line item you can use to change the icon and the route lines as well.

Yaan has done a lot of editing in this file. He could help you quickly I'm sure.

I have tried some of the power calculators on the Internet. According to them I will be using just over 300w and so my 450w PSU should be good enough.

Did it include all the USB devices you have plugged in too?

It's not the Wattage that you need to be concerned with, it's the Amps. If a power supply cannot keep up the amp demand, then the voltage will start falling and hardware will start failing.

It may not be your power supply, anyway, but it's a helluva lot easier to replace a PSU than a motherboard, which is the second likely candidate.

Have you ever got a blue screen with words on it? Or has it automatically restarted the computer in the middle of a game session?
