Join us tonight where we get to use the new toys in the TWO.1 update, so if you dont have it yet, send me or adlabs a PM and we'll send you a link.

We've also got a bunch of new missions for tonight. From kicking out CSAT forces in the heat of takistan with only basic equipment, to clearing out NATO forces in the frozen woods of Thirsk.

1am UK, 8pm EST

Dear Meatsheild,

I DL'd the updated mods but haven't gotten around to installing them yet.

Just thought you'd want to know, Tao thought so.

I just sent off two new co-op Zeus missions and a refined version of Garbage Day.

They're based on very realistic premises, and are fully dynamic. I have some scenarios in mind.

Hope we can play at least one tonight!

(And maybe TaoDamage will work)

Ton of fun tonight. Thanks for making my first session a good one.

Forget to get screenshots later, but here's the convoy going into to town.

Yep great night. I thoroughly the use of Zeus. I will try to create a couple of missions like that.

Also Tao's bird was possibly the best Arma breakdown I have ever seen.

Well an interesting ending to both of Tao's Zeus missions, to be sure. I do worry about replay value, given the heavy role playing component, though perhaps this is because role play isn't much my thing. Others may enjoy it.

My test Zeus mission played OK (the one with the UAV Base assault). The things like the mortar nest objective, the enemy vehicle response at the end, and the mortar support asset, all were placed/built during the mission by me. Even objectives themselves, and the patrols and the distant vehicles you guys spotted.

Here and there, when you were heavily pressed by an enemy infantry group, I would "injure" and even delete a couple of AI infantry to balance the scenario as I saw fit.

So that mission will never play out that exact way again. The interface is surprisingly workable. It would be nice to be able to lay out a scenario and save it as a multiplayer mission (in a 3D editor sort of way) using the Zeus interface.

I don't know that Zeus missions would always require that RPG-lite aspect. If you want to do those, then Zeus allows it, certainly, but taken literally the GM is "god" of the mission and not necessarily required to communicate directly with the other players.

So we could just play a mission as always with the GM capable of throwing up random encounters during a long ingress, adding support if we find ourselves outflanked or overwhelmed or obstacles if we're steamrolling them, like adding armor/air to either side.

We don't always have to be engaging in a parley with the King of the Eagles. smile

Neither Zeus mission went as I wanted. Obviously the bird thing, but I actually intended to resolve the negotiations -- one way or another -- MUCH earlier. I had to delay everything considerably because while I was affecting the most absurd Russian accent ever, I was also furiously going through scripting commands trying to figure out how to make the mission play out the way I wanted.

Once I figured it out, my attempt to execute it turned me into a bird.

In the Takistan checkpoint mission, Arma crashed spectacularly -- straight to desktop -- when I issued a Get Out command to a vehicle. When I came back, bird. I actually intended for that mission to get hairy quick, but not at all in the way you guys were clearly expecting. Next time I'll have an Arabic phrasebook instead, so I don't look like such a stereotyping American fool and get shot by Tyco for my trouble...

In future Zeus missions we'll have to not click Disable AI button. If you disable the player AI one-by-one with the icons next to them, that problem doesn't happen.

I also was thinking... What happens if I take over an AI and get killed? Does our current respawn setting (group) send me back into the Zeus UI for sure?

Or would I need to do a disco/reconnect to the Zeus seat?

Yes, it perfectly-reliably kicks you back into the Zeus UI, due to the way that AI takeover works. It treats the AI as a UAV, basically.

I've been killed quite a few times by players.
