Hi everyone,

possibly there's a post somewhere else in this forum concerning this topic, but I was too lazy to look for it... seehearspeak

I'm missing some important French planes in this sim, like (early period) the Caudron G3 and G4 (mainstay of the Aéronautique Militaire for most of 1915) and also (late period) Breguet 14 and Salmson 2 (the same in 1918) to name but a very few. Does anyone know whether they are coming up later?

(Don't get me wrong, no criticism whatsoever intended here: this is by far the best WWI sim ever, if you ask me, and I really really thank the entire team for having realized this huge endeavor, but without these really important French craft it seems to me a bit unbalanced in favor of the RFC...)

They're on the wishlist. Hopefully we'll get them some day... smile

Well, many of us around here - the devs included - would like to see these craft in WOFF.
I guess it will all depend on the sales numbers, if further add-ons will be produced.

So spread the word, guys: WOFF

As I'm not so crazy about 1915 (not much action, I usually start in spring 1916) I would put the Breguet XIV on top of the list, one of my favourite heavies in RoF (together with the DH4)

Another question: Can you be invited to join an elite squadron? I don't know about the Cigognes (I mean historically), but Manfred von Richthofen, for example, had permission to choose freely among German pilots for his JG 1. Is this implemented here?

Also, it would be a lot of fun to paint your plane and/or choose some insignia, as both French and Germans were permitted to do... thumbsup

Not that way round, no. But you can request a transfer to the sqdn you want to join.

??

Don't you mean "you can choose a specific historical ace's paint job in the game"?

Would be nice to have some fictional ones for each squadron for players to use. I sometimes find myself trying to use a specific pilot's paint job in my own squadron, but have all of them currently active.

Perhaps the skinners are working on another add-on like this? winkngrin

What he means may be, that you can make your own skins and use them ingame.
I always do that.

What I actually meant with painting is not that complicated. I remember that in Red Baron 3D flying for the Germans you were permitted to choose the color of your wings and fuselage once you had been promoted to Rittmeister (I think). I'd just find it funny to have, e.g. Nungesser's skull & bones on my red-and-white Fokker... Something like that. biggrin

I wonder if there is still a tutorial on how to skin for WOFF, there was one for OFF, should be pretty much the same.

MOST of the OFF skins are the same as the WOFF skins. Only a few planes are different.

I have done some skinning in WOFF and the instructions on the OFF site are still applicable.

That wasn't RB3d, that was the original Red Baron. In RBII/3D you could create a paint job using an out of game program, and something like Windows Paint. And you could do all sorts of things with that.
