Has anybody played this? It's an older game, but the reviews are good. Steam has it on sale.

SS2 is definitely still fun, especially when modded with the better textures/models available, replayed it last year when it released on GOG.

On steam it has both High Resolution pack AND co-op play.
A must.

I recently played through the SS2 co-op with my lady wife. We are using the DRM-free, gog.com version of the game. The game looks old (it uses the dark engine from the original thief games) but there is something to be said for great gameplay and a good story. Co-op-wise, it is remarkably stable for such an old game but we did have some issues with players syncing during level changes. My advice is to save often and if you need to load before going through a level transistion in co-op, make sure you interact with something in the game world before changing levels.

Cheers and happy hunting,

That's like asking whether The Godfather is worth watching.

biggrin

SS2 is a truly great game. Yes, the grafics are outdated by today's standard. But with a few mods (widescreen, higher res textures) it still looks good enough and the gameplay and atmosphere are still fantastic.

I still have it installed in my HD.

I got SS2 early this morning. Installed, configured and started it. I don't mind the outdated graphics as long as the gameplay is good.

System Shock 1 is still worth playing through too. They even have a mouselook mod for it.

Never played FEAR so I couldn't say. In my memory, though, SS1 was scarier.

It's the precursor to Bioshock.
