Like lots of others I was built up and depressed by this game - the TF people have done an amazing job and I am now really enjoying Heinkill's Redux campaign.

My questions for fixes are as follows:

1) Does anyone know how to get the control surfaces to move smoothly? In autopilot they, and the control column, move smoothly and cleanly as in real life - when I am in control they jerk from position to position in a jarring manner (the flight itself feels fine).

2) I downloaded the Swastika mod but only see them occasionally. Very rarely are they present in the Redux campaign. Any idea why?

3) Anti aliasing is still very poor (despite having it maxed on my card) any in game fix for this?

Thanks!

Alex

Your 1) reminds me of when my joystick had got a bit dusty - it hadn't been used for a few years and when I plugged it in to COD recently, she was all over the show. Rudder was flicking from side to side like a crazy thing. It took me a wee while to work out it was my stick and not the sim. Ended up having to pull the stick apart and squirt working parts with contact cleaner, which fixed it nicely.

Thanks for the tip but I can confirm the problem is not with my joystick - I have checked the axes visually on the PC and they are perfectly smooth. They are also completely smooth on other sims.

One FINAL question - does anyone know why the BF-109s i'm chasing keep committing suicide into the sea!?

1) Go in ...:\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover - MOD\cache and delete all contends of this folder. This help with graphical issues.

In TF 4.0 patch, due the changes in airfoils the standard AI tends to "lawndart" at steep dives, they can not "pull up". This has corrected (or at least improved) in TF 4.30+4.312 patch's.

Thanks Sokol.

What is the effect of deleting these files?

Also, if I install the new patch will it erase my campaign progress?

These (shader) files can get corrupted, when you delete the game create new ones.

The MOD patchs dont affect campaign/mission, but just in case make a backup of the folder:

..:\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover - MOD\mission
there are stored the campaign progress.

Thanks Sokol, the patch has made my dogfights much better!

Unfortunately deleting the shaders made no appreciable difference (though this is not a major problem - in the heat of battle I really don't notice).

The only other problem I have with this game is despite having very reasonable frame rates most of the time it is unacceptably poor when flying over London. Is there a way to fix this without making the game look poor when I am flying over normal terrain?

Thank you once again for your help.

Alex

May I suggest registering on ATAG forums as there is a huge amount of information and help available for the TF patches and CloD in general:
