I'm asking the age old question again requesting help on my game installation. I've been wracking my brain and scouring the forums and internet to try to best figure it out myself. I've long been away from this sim and I miss flying those pacific fighters. I have yet to experience this ol' gem in all its updated glory. I've been pining for it over all these years seeing people's videos and screenshots of their updated IL-2 installs. I remember when I first played the original then its expansions. I loved Pacific Fighters. I have IL-1946 but have never played it updated. I tried and failed last year to do this because of the resulting confusion of the numerous patches.

I think I figured it out but if someone can verify that this install procedure is correct I'd truly appreciated;

-Install IL-1946 retail disk

-Install IL-2_MegaPatch4.10.1m_EN next as it apparently is a cumulative patch that brings retail to a certain level

-Install 4.11m patch

-Install 4.12m patch

-Install 4.12.1m patch

-Install 4.12.2m patch

Now game is up to date?

If I'm in the clear, is there anything else that you all would recommend that I install for the sim? Any other config settings I need to tweak or am I good to go? I seem to remember years ago having to go into the ini file to force perfect water to work. Is this still the case?

Thanks for the patience and much needed help for a dusty and frustrated simmer.

That is good to know but is my install order correct? I love GOG but I'd prefer to save ten dollars right now.

Okay I bought it through GOG. It had the main game download and one patch exe. I would still like to know if my install question is correct though please. biggrin Spent a lot of time last night trying to figure it all out.

Well its good to get the ol' girl up and running and fully updated for the first time. I installed STAB but that is it. Are there any "must haves" that I should look at? I seem to remember reading something about a sound mod. Running the game under Open GL allows for a "perfect" setting for water. Any other graphics tweaks?

with water, I would just experiment 0-3, find what u like (frames limiting, effects 0-2, again experiment (I have it 0 even with my GTX690, just don't like some of the shadows..)

also u want to set your NVIDIA panel just right - will post the NVIDIA panel setting for 580 later

o/w the mod package to get imo, is the HSFX, simply amazing, but there are other big/great packages

lot of info on forums, here are some links:

A little late it seems but your patching order was correct.

For future reference, this patching guide at M4T shows the correct patching sequence.
