Flew 4,000 km last night.
6 days in Bali Island, deep in the forests and paddy fields of Ubud.
Thunderstorms for the next 5 days, fantastic.

Cheers,
Slug

I don't mind rain and thunder as long as it doesn't happen while I'm commuting to or from work.

I'm another who likes thunderstorms.

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

I think thunderstorms are great on occasion, but not when I've traveled a long distance for a vacation to see the sights.

Well, just rode a vicious moped under bucketload of water, enjoyed every mile of it.
Balinese are so gentle , even the truck drivers kindly smile at you while pushing you off the road.

Off to get a tattoo now biggrin

Cheers,
Slug

Not good when you're doing anything using electricity though...

Thunderstorms have been like clockwork, every afternoon from 2 till 4 or so. A blessing in disguise, cooling me down a little before hitting the tracks again.

Here are a few pics, all with mobile phone, soz.

The private pool at the villa, lovely

Paddy fields. Loads and loads of them, tricky to find your way through sometimes

Enjoy the T-storms and use them to your advantage

most travel photographs suck completely, having t-storms in the background of your photos will not only bring the dynamic range of the scenes all into one exposure (i.e. the sky won't be blown out in your photos) but will also look cool and dramatic.

enjoy!

Ubud is great! Beautiful galleries, the shopping street had some interesting stuff, and Indonesian food is the best in the world IMHO. Did you try to find a plantation and try some of the coffees / teas / other stuff? I had my first cup of Kopi Luwak ("Cat Sh*t Coffee") when I was on Bali - good stuff, but hardly worth the hundreds of Dollars a half kilo will cost you. I did buy a lot of spices (vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and many more) though for a very good price.

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Hey Legend !
Totally agreed, Ubud is wonderful although downtown was a bit of a no-go zone this time. The royal family was having a wedding, blocked the whole place for 4 days.
As usual I avoided Sanur, Nusa Dua and Kuta Beach like the plague, spending all my time in Central Bali.

Not much of a coffee drinker myself so no Kopi Luwak for me, but I did buy a fairly large stack of spices, mostly vanilla sticks, cloves and some pre-mixed powders my wife seemed to know what they were for.
Also got a few wooden statues and stone carvings. A hopeless attempt at bringing a little Balinese mood back to HK.

Cheers,
Slug

Have you tried the babi guling? smile
I don't think it rains the whole day does it? Rest of the day should be good weather. The rain helps keeps thing cool.
