Yesterday I have finally decided after a number of years sitting on the fence to finally join in on the fun Ordered the permanent license yesterday. Registered on steelbeasts.com and now I'm waiting for the USB DRM stick and to get access to post on steelbeasts.com. I'm a WW2 thread head but looks like it's going to be another 10+ years before true Panzer Elite replacement arrives and I just couldn't wait any longer. I played about 1+ year of WoT but I got tired of the game...and it's not really want I wanted anyway. What really got me into the game was this great youtube video:

Absolutely incredible...I didn't know before the video that I can actually command a platoon like in PE.

The only bummer part is that long weekend ahead and I ain't got the USB DRM stick!!! Talk about bad timing

SB is without doubt the best Tank sim on the market.
You could try and contact a guy by the name of Gibsonm he has additional licences available
And will lend then out if any are spare. (till your dongle arrives)
You will find him mostly over at SB.com
If you like steam gunnery as the RL guys call it try the T-62.
Its as near as you can currently get to WW2 type tank the rest all have fancy Laser range finders, dynamic lead Ballistic computers thermal cameras.
Real SB tankers do not need such devices, Note We tend not to live that long on the battlefield though.LoL

Thanks for the suggestions! I might look up Gibsonm, though I can't post on the SB.com just yet. It seems the admin needs to give that right. I will check out T-62, though I'm looking forward learning the Lepard 2.

Wow, the SB manual could use an upgrade, no pictures ?! I like pictures I'm really surprised...anyways...I hope that the ingame tutorials are good so that I can learn the various views and controls.

Pictures make maintainability and editing a pain. It pains me to admit that we've fallen behind in keeping the manual up to date, but the reason why we eliminated all pictures from the manual was that it would allow us to update the manual more frequently. We're now making a lot of progress in the manual department, and I hope that we'll have a new one no later than late June.
Once that we have caught up, keeping the manual up to date should work much better now that we have suitable help.

Yesterday was my first day with SB and it the was very memorable one! I did some tutorials on my own, shooting range and the end of the day I took part in a big MP mission, using the 3.014Beta with 21 players. Wow what an experience that was! The game was so stable! Great mature group of people, using proper chain of command. 3.5 hours mission, I had an amazing time! One member of the community allowed me to temporarily use his second license. I hope I won't have to wait long to get my USB dongle. I have already got another friend of mine hooked to the game as well

Just a suggestion to SB.com, it would be cool if I buy the game and permanent license...while I wait for the USB dongle to arrive, to give me say 10 day temporary license so that I can play the game.
