I'm keeping my eye on this one. It will definitely be its own creature despite the name-connection to the Wolfenstein games of years ago, but my attention has been grabbed. smile

We'll see. Wolfenstein with Nazis but without Zombies (that eat Nazis) just isn't Wolfenstein.

sigh

I just hope the whole brilliant over-the-top atmosphere of RTCW doesn't get "casualized" into some flat b-movie Nazi SciFi 08/15 story...

Meh. I kinda lost interest in the franchise after Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Meaning you didn't like RtCW, or the one after?

The preview I read in Edge last month said that for a linear game the levels are very open. In particular they have a lot of verticality, offering different paths and playing styles. I guess we'll see, reckon it looks promising anyway.

As for the health meter, isn't that what 'proper' games used to have before health automatically regenerated?

I actually did enjoy RTCW quite a bit but I never felt compelled to buy the game that came afterwards. I don't know, I think it's just my personal gaming tastes that have changed. I think I'm just burned out on the conventional first person shooter.

It's essentially the same gameplay mechanics that we've seen in other shooters for the past 10 years. At least a game like "Dishonored" has a unique setting, story and aesthetics.

Might give it a go but not at retail price. Will wait a few months for a steam sale.

RtCW was the first fps I played and I played it through 6-7 times. Great pacing, great music, great environments. Really tried to like the next one, and it had some good things about it, but yeah, somehow generic.

Can't get too enthusiastic about mechs in any context, so not on anything I've seen so far.

I must be a bit older than you Tag since my first fps was the original Wolfenstein in 1990. Lol.

I thought Wolfenstein was a decent enough shooter. I don't remember if I bought it at release or not, but the device letting you enter "the Veil" was nice, as was fighting the uber-teched Nazis. I played it twice and I then replayed RTCW again afterwards and was reminded of everything RTCW did right...and wrong. It's definitely dated now and I don't just mean the graphics.
The new Wolfenstein was the Quake 4 or Doom 3 of the Wolfenstein franchise. If you liked one, you'd like the other 2.

Yeah, you joined the party late compared to those of us who started in the 80s! smile

You're never too old to become a PC gamer!
