Yes, it is somewhat modeled after the movie. I saw it Tuesday night. It was brilliant and creepy and humorous, all at the same time.

Fargo and O Brother, Where Art Thou? were the two Coen Brothers films that never won me over. I'm a fan of virtually everything else.

Fargo - absolutely brilliant writing and cast.

Fargo was the Coens' most brilliant film. I think you just don't get the rural Minnesota culture. Those Scandinavian-Americans "up north." That film was brilliant. The new TV series is equally brilliant.

Thank you Plainsman.

I am still trying to figure out some of the stuff on the buffet that Marge was at in Fargo.

I did not laugh once through that film. I was just bored.

I'll say Barton Fink blows Fargo away.

Barton Fink was about a New Yorker. Maybe you identify more with New Yorkers or the culture there or in Hollywood. Perhaps you are a John Turturro fan.

Like I said, I think you just don't understand rural Minnesota culture or even Upper Midwest culture. If you did, you would've laughed your ass off in spots like the rest of us, and cringed in disbelief in spots like the rest of us.

I'm from the New York City metro area. When I moved to Minnesota to work for a company that had offices in both states, I was always asked by my New York colleagues to "translate" what the Minnesotans were saying because the New Yorkers told me they "don't get them, and don't have the patience to deal with them."

You may not be from New York, Kontakt, but it's obvious that you're not experienced in Upper Midwest cultural quirks. The series "Fargo" exaggerates that culture for dramatic effect, which is one of the reasons why it is so funny at times and shocking at other times when violence breaks out.

America isn't just Hollywood and big East Coast cities. It's also why I find the series "Justified" interesting. It's a slice of a different culture within the USA. This kind of diversity makes America more interesting, I think, than most countries.

Insofar as it is one of their more popular films, I wasn't excited. Your commentary about where I am from or where you are from, Barton Fink isn't simply about New York, that doesn't explain it (I am neither from New York nor Hollywood).

With Barton Fink there is a different kind of film technique all together and it actually is critical of everyone in it, including
the title character from New York. But the direction and camera work just gave it a very surreal look which I didn't
feel had the same quality in Fargo.

The 2nd episode was slow.

I guess it was a kind of calm after the big climax at the end of episode 1.

But this week's episode, #3, was awesome and even more twisted and dark and suspenseful than the first episode.

There was a loose end at the end of Fargo, the movie.

I LOVE IT how they tied it on tonight's episode!

Is Jerry the biggest loser ever to appear in cinematic history?
