I might just F* it and upgrade my system. I've never really decided on an "upgrade cycle" but this system is about 4 years old and has served me really well. In the quest for more fps and the ability to do smoother video capture, I'm itching to pull the plug on a new Haswell system.
So, my old and reliable i5 750 2.6GHz and Gigabyte P55-US3L motherboard may be looking for a new home soon. This system has only been OC'ed twice, the first time was 2 years ago when I was playing DCS, but then shifted to BMS so went back to stock clocks after a period of testing. Second time is this week, OC'ed up to 4.0GHz stable with 1 hour Intel Burn Test and temps of below 80*C. Running BMS and I don't even touch 60*C. Cooler is a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Evo and does a really, really, REALLY good job.
I don't play much ARMA/Skyrim/DCS to give an accurate evaluation of it's performance but suffice to say that if it weren't for my quest-for-fps in BMS, I wouldn't feel the "need" to upgrade.
Any ideas what a fair price for the CPU+mobo would be today? It's not kick-ass-great but with the right GPU, I'd doubt if it'll struggle with any games today.
