Nice review. Now I just need my Saitek Combat Pedals to suffer a surprising accident....

Nice review! I would love to update my CH pedals. 400+ USD seems like an awful lot, though. At least to this cheapskate. The fact that the money is going to a fellow hobbyist and that the product is quality is pretty persuasive though...hmm....

This was a *very* nice review.
Progressive tension would be a killer feature and leans me towards them. My only concern is will it in fact work in the Obutto Ozone or not. I guess I'd have to know for sure. Things are tight in that region and other pedals (not CH) have problems.

Its a toss up between these and the metal Slaw Device pedals for me, and I can't make my mind up.

Milan told me they are a composite material similar to bakelite so not MDF. I ordered a set of these recently and was only introduced to the slaw after I had brought the Crosswind I think it would have been a close call on which to buy if I had heard about them before, but given the engineering behind the cam and the huge level of adjust-ability I think the Crosswinds would have won anyway. Metal vs plastic is always a hard one for me but composite materials are starting to really impress me. Both look like they are giving us something that no main stream company would ever bother to even think of making, so huge thumbs up and hats off to the both of them

Thanks for the review. I am also wondering what "white MFD" means. How light are these pedals? Do they slide on the floor when using them or braking? How does the braking work with A-10C? I currently have CH Pedals and when braking in DCS things get very squirrely.

I currently have both the Slaw pedals and the Crosswinds. Am intending to do a review of both pedals after I've had a chance to adequately compare them. Plan on giving one set to my son.
Will say that both of these pedals are very good. And both Slaw and Milan are very responsive to any question or concerns.
The Crosswinds are very light and they need to be well secured in order to get the most out of them. However, they do provide more options for fine-tuning than the Slaw pedals.
Also, the Crosswind pedals came much better packaged than the Slaw pedals. I would highly recommend that anyone buying from Slaw insist on good packaging even if it means paying higher shipping costs.

The composite material is Formica™ like High Pressure Laminated. So water resistant, dont peeling paint, dont rush like some metals. On thickness used have the same strength of aluminum. Sokol1

Great review and love the "could be better" comments listed!
I've got a pair of these pedals (second batch) based on the feedback I got from IvanK (one of the contributors to the feedback section of the article) and despite the high cost I don't have any regrets in getting these pedals.

For those that have also owned Simpeds, how they compare with the Crosswinds? Here is your answer: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3815062#Post3815062Please note that this was a review of a prototype, and the pedals have gone a long way since then. The software also received an update from what you see in the SimHQ review with the firmware now updated to version 1.4.

Hi all That is a nice review :-)
Thanks to all who participated in making such review. Speciall thanks to AgressorBLUE, T}{or and IvanK for making it so comprehensive :-)
Also, I need to thank all of my buyers - now owners of first batches.... They took a leap of faith to be the first owners of a new product. Salute ! You made it all possible.
Thank to all customers as well as Simmers around the globe for promoting my product. You are my marketing managers :-)
- - - - - - - - - - - - On Material...thanks JG52KRUPI and Sokol1 for sharing explanation. Material belong to HPL - High pressure laminate family. So does bakelite, Formica and many others. All of these HPL materials have slightly different characteristics...and pedals are not made of these popular HPL brands... HPL specification I keep for myself, sorry , I decided to keep it as company secret. On Sokol1 comments...yes...compared to aluminium it can be said that it has some weaker characteristics than aluminium compensated with material thickness. I would achieve same strenght if I used 35% less thick aluminum to produce parts. I see people around forums thinking MDF...sealed edges ... IT IS NOT MDF ! Material is a black core with colored surface...that's why it's black & white...no edging, no paint to wear off!
WHY NOT METAL ?!? Material was chosen becouse : - Excellent combination of structural strenght, flexing characteristics , as well as strenght on impact. - moisture resistant, resistant to most solvents , many acids ( you can clean the pedals with acetone for example...no problem) - durable...retain it's characteristics over time - Non magnetic material - important becouse of using magnetic angle measuring instead of potentiometers. - low wear coeficient ( becouse of cam centering principle) - rigid and beautifull surface by itself ( pedals are not painted...surface will not "wear off" ...you have to wear off 0,3mm of material which is unlikely that you will manage to do) - good scratch resistance of surface ( better than most paints) - does not rust - does not condust electricity - warmer at touch :-) I love this one, as I do fly in socks :-) - use of larger thickness is requied to make proper seat for bearings ...
Lightweight : - I've machined so much weight reduction holes that pedals look like swiss cheese :-) I wanted to stay under 5kg packed - cheaper shipping. Pedals alone weight 4.5 kg.
Y shaped base : - for clearance under pedals. Will become more evident when using combat style footrests in the future. - yes...pedals are best utilised when properly fixed, there are holes for that.
Slide on the floor : - if not fixed, or if you don't have wall behind to use wall spacers supplied...the answer is mostly YES...they will slide...will not slide on carpet by using weak spring settings, but If you go to more realistic spring settings there is no rubber to keep them from sliding :-(...that's why I didn't bother too much about sliding as I belive most buyers will find a way to fix them properly...there is no point to me to ship a big baseplate around the globe :-)
enjoy Milan
