Well I bought Shadow Fall, Second Son and MGSV Ground Zeroes. So far I'm enjoying them all.
Shadow Fall can be quite impressive at times. It seems to me the frame rate struggles in certain areas but its still playable and quite pretty. I really like the secondary energy rounds on the rifle.
Second Son I'd say overall looks better graphically. I just entered Seattle and am still learning the controls. The facial animations and wrinkly skin is quite good.
Now, Ground Zeroes. Wow! I know part of it has to do with Kojima's attention to detail and cinematic approach but this prologue oozes atmosphere and to me is exceptional looking graphically speaking and in gameplay. The animations are very realistic looking and feel way more fluid than the previous entries. Just being able to carry a guy and immediately go to different stances and speeds feels very intuitive. I just really like the animation work. From squat walking in one direction to fluidly turning the other way to walk to the way Snake carries his weapon and gear is just very slick looking. I know its short but it makes me very excited to see what Phantom Pain will be like being hundreds of times bigger than Ground Zeroes. I also like the cover system. Snake can just fall in and out of it very naturally. Maybe its the overcast and rain limiting draw distances but of the three games this one seems to perform the best.
I suppose the next couple of games I'm looking forward to are Watch Dogs and Shadow of Mordor.

I felt the same about killzone when I first got it but as it progressed it felt like a tech demo and less like a killzone game. Its now been traded in.
Ground Zeroes I'm not sure about,I think Splinter Cell does it better. But Infamous is the best of the lot still and I'm looking forward to the same as kludgers list except Drive Club, sick of car games.
EDIT: also, you managed to get hold of a PS4 then, Coot?
Yeah I ordered one from Amazon. Kind of funny though. Most stores I've been in haven't had any the last couple of months so I ordered one from Amazon as they were in stock. While waiting for UPS I went to Gamestop to trade in old games so I could buy some PS4 games and they had them back in stock. I went into Target that same day and they had one too.
I got a PS4, Samsung sound bar and Samsung 46" HDTV this week. Been a might spensive week lucy.
I don't know, I got a real Chaos Theory vibe from Ground Zeroes. I hope further Splinter Cell games take not of this and try to achieve getting back that atmosphere again the game's used to have. Blacklist animations were pretty slick but not as extensive as the previews made them out to be. I'd be excited though to see a next-gen Chaos Thoery-esk splinter cell game.

Yeah I had a similar experience last weekend, when I decided to buy, I saw everyone was making a big deal that Amazon had it in stock, but I called around and most stores were all out but a GameStop near me actually had a couple in stock and so I was able to pick one up in a matter of minutes.
I still prefer my first person shooters on pc for control reasons but I'm half tempted to get Sniper Elite V3 when it comes out for PS4. V2 runs pretty well on my pc but maybe I'll wait for a review to decide.

Ground Zeros is fantastic, such an amazing little prologue and it makes me really excited about Phantom Pain. It's also very tight, tactical yet still has the speed which could make it perfect in multiplayer. As long as they get rid of that catastrophic login system from MGS4 and add some tactical modes, I'm there.
Not seeing the Splinter Cell references, Metal Gear has always had a special feeling and atmosphere plus a different pace than Splinter Cell. Especially can't compare it to any of that newer rubbish.
Other games I'm looking forward to is H-Hour, just to get back into the whole Socom thing.
Destiny is also high on the list.
Drive Club looks very interesting.
That's about it, anything else I'll probably pick up on PC.

The rain and wet effects is what gave me a specifically Chaos Theory vibe. Not the others. I don't know if there is a time count anywhere when it comes to your games but I'm pretty sure I've spent at least two hours in Ground Zeroes and I'm still not done.
Of the three games I got for PS4, I feel this is the best looking one bar none.

I am going to wait and see the reviews to see how PS4 vs PC stacks up and make sure the sandbox gameplay is fun like GTAV, but the ingame footage there looks great.
Same here. Watchdogs and PS4 for me. I already reserved it. Don't need to wait for reviews. Need a nice shiny new game for my PS4 especially one that is supposed to be open world. Love the windy city setting. Looks like it will "feel" very atmospheric.

I initially (and still do) wanted to get Raven's Cry for pc but I just might get it for the PS4 first being as its designed for cross platforms. I'm really looking forward to this game. Its from the creators of Two Worlds 1 and 2. I mostly played the second and aside from its quirks, its a great, solid rpg with and absolutely gorgeous graphics engine. TW2 used Reality Pumps in-house engine called Grace.
Raven's Cry is using the Grace2 engine and this time around they are making a specifically pirate rpg game. I know its not far to compare certain games as they present some different gameplay aspects but I have a feeling Raven's Cry is going to blow AC4 Black Flag right out of the water as far as pirate games go. I could be wrong but TW2 with its engine is a really solid game. And unlike the AC series, Raven's Cry probably won't be near as well known or publicized. I'll probably see if Gamestop can reserve a PS4 copy for me.
There's loads of new updated info on the game since last I visited. Looks and sounds awesome if you like pirates and rpgs.
They need to get the ball rollin' here. Got a PS4 sitting here and nothing to do. Ground Zeroes has been my favorite. Not too impressed I must say with Shadow Fall and Second Son.
Come on, come on.......

I *want* to buy a PS4, since my last console was a Dreamcast lol, but there aren't any nice exclusive games. I wish there was some nice platformers or a new Gran Turismo, as I have a PS Vita, and would be nice to remote play them.

I feel the same, I sold Killzone a while ago now and Second Son, although a lovely looking game, is getting a bit tedious and can't bring myself to play so may be sold too whilst the price is still high.
So far the games have been nice looking tech demos without much game there. MGS was sold within 2 days, total dross and done faaaar better by Splinter Cell etc without the weird stuff. I really cannot get MGS, although I've tried with the games they just make no sense and are bizarre to me.
I mostly play FIFA14, Resogun and Second Son, I haven't really picked up those other games based on reviews that said they were pretty but not worth it.
Looking forward to some big meatier releases too, in the meantime the PS4 is mainly additional gaming to my main gaming on PC.

Same here but I still like them. I still don't know who is who but I find them interesting and I like the spec force angle with weird, almost supernatural elements. I also can't stand boss battles but put up with them for these games.
I bought two games on steam today and its just been blah. Getting bored and frustrated with myself for allowing Steam to leach me. I need to start being more picky.
Right now for me it'll be Raven's Cry come May 7 and then Watch Dogs.

Not heard of Raven's Cry before and it's out next week?! They haven't done a good job of promoting it, Game hasn't even got it listed and only found on Amazon's site. Only on last gen and PC I see.
Hmmm, what makes this stand out for you Coot? It has overtones of Risen 2 Dark Waters and we both know how disappointing that was.
Raven's Cry will be cross platform including PS4. Check my links on page 2 for info. It will be nothing like Risen 2. Its been developed by the creators of Two Worlds 1&2 using the next generation version of their "Grace" engine which was used in TW2 which by the way is an absolutely gorgeous game with a gorgeous engine. And though it mostly flew under the radar, the TW games are solid rpgs and well respected.
But Raven's Cry will be their own take on the Caribbean and age of pirates. I'm pretty confident that at least for me because I know the quality of TW2, this new, strictly pirate-themed rpg of theirs will blow AC4 out of the water.
TW2 also wasn't well publicized when it first came out and it actually took awhile to get a copy of it as the publisher seemed to take forever to get it out to retailers for some reason. They never have been advertised much and always just kind of appear when they appear.
I think my first copy of TW2 was on the 360 until I finally could get a pc copy online. I'm going to try and see if Gamestop can reserve a PS4 copy for me but like you say, I can't find any retailer right now that has it listed. I don't know what the deal is with Topware Iteractive. They don't seem to push new products very well.

Went to Gamestop and Raven's Cry isn't on their radar. I had a feeling as much. Probably similar to TW2 release. They say and it is officially released on such and such a day but then takes a month or so for it to actually appear anywhere. I'll keep me ears to the ground mates.

It's not available anywhere digitally either. Only a retail copy from Amazon...
I can't find any gameplay videos only some dodgy looking trailer with ropey animations which has made me hold off pre-ordering from Amazon as I'll wait to hear what it's like first.
Not heard, but I hope the PS4 ones get better, that Mercenary Kings was awful. I am so bored of 'retro 8-bit' indie games...
Heh, Mercenary Kings is a running joke within a group of guys I'm playing with. What a pile of ... something that was. Not because of the style but the gameplay, the enemies that keep respawning, the map made in in ancient hieroglyphics and the grinding aspect. Even co-op where everyone shares the 3 life pool and you can't find each other due to the terrible map.

Nothing out there on Raven's Cry, no You Tube vids, no reviews, nothing. Amazon page saying not in stock anymore and that it was the German language version anyway.
Also found out that it was a game started by one company years ago and picked up by Reality Pump 9 months ago... Doesn't sound good and think I'll avoid this one.
Yeah I expected Mercenary Kings to be a uber deep MetalSlug which was one of my favorite series and it just doesn't play fast and fun like it, glad it was a PS+ freebie, lots of folks on Steam paid for it though, so hopefully that will drive some improvements to it that eventually come to PS4.
Mace, I've popped back into the Pirates Ahoy site again after a long hiatus and a poster was kind enough to give some updated info. Apparently the release date is now in October. Not sure why they would say May and then next thing you know their website is slating an October release. I think its actually a good thing it was handed over to Reality Pump as they gave us Two Worlds 2 and the GRACE engine. So hopefully it will turn out decent. I'll get it regardless and let you all know what I think of it when it releases.

The preview I'd seen from Rev3 was favourable and I would much rather listen to their views as I tend to agree with their reviews. That review made it sound good though.
Same here. Its up to me ultimately whether I get it or not and I'll still be getting it. If I'm profoundly disappointed and think its garbage I'll say so. If its a decent game I'll say so as well.

Some of the ps4 free games for plus members have been great so far. I've only played them a little bit but they have great HD graphics for being pretty basic indie games. Trine 2 is amazing and you can play with 3 players coop.

I think the exact opposite as I played Trine years ago on PC and the rest have been crappy indie platform rubbish and I hate platformers.
If I hadn't had the Destiny alpha PSN would have been a waste of money.
Yeah agreed on PS4 the PSN+ free game selection has been small indies and no top tier games, Resogun is my favorite freebie so far.
But on PS3 and Vita I got a lot of top tier games from the $50 PSN+ yearly sub so far, I only wish I had it earlier in the year when a couple of more were the free game...
PS3: Borderlands 2 BioShock Infinite Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Payday 2 Metro: Last Light Remember Me Tomb Raider Batman: Arkham City Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 Dead Space 3
PS Vita: Gravity Rush Uncharted: Golden Abyss Wipeout 2048 Retro City Rampage Soul Sacrifice Unit 13 Velocity Ultra Muramasa Rebirth
If they actually release some PS4 games they can actually make some of the top tier ones already out the free game.
I may have to get The Witcher: the wild hunt if my pc isn't up to it but would prefer on pc but only if it can run it looking great otherwise ill get on PS4. But that's sometime in 2015....
As it pertains to what's been said in this post earlier, I'm afraid I did not like Watch Dogs. Usually I can find something to hold onto even if it doesn't match or live up to what it was made out to be but I just had a hard time getting into it. I know some have said that if you give it time the story really starts to open up. So probably when they come out with a GOTY edition with all DLC that may come out included in it and when its twenty bucks I'll try it again. The gunplay just felt shallow but again maybe I didn't give it enough time.
I went ahead and picked up AC4 on PS4 though I'd been playing it on PS3. It looks a bit better and had better frame rates. I've been really playing a lot of AC lately and am really looking forward to AC French Revolution and whatever the PS3 "Comet" AC game is going to be.
I saw a video of Unity and they "said" they made the combat challenging again and I like how there is a dedicated stealth mode and ability to enter many buildings. Plus the animations are looking even better if that were possible. They now have some sort of quick decent movement ability that looks really cool and a nice change of pace from having to leap into hay stacks if you want to get down fast. And it appears that the game's AI population have more going on with more various behaviors and chores as well as more spontaneous events being blended within what's already going on to create choices that may or may not effect your current goal.

I picked up Diablo3 Ultimate Evil Edition on PS4 this week and am really enjoying it compared to the PC version which I didn't play very far due to the boring drops and skills when it launched and all the account hacking that was going on.
Enhanced edition now, and they have really tuned the drops and skills, and it plays really well with the PS4 controller and direct control of the character compared to the mouse+kb area controls on PC, and it looks great on the PS4 like it does on the PC, no jaggies or slowdowns anywhere.
Surprised how much I am enjoying playing it on PS4 compared to the PC version which was a disappointment 2 years ago, perfect game for my current limited available gaming time.
