Just a quick, chuckle worthy one. No screenshots or video, sadly, sorry!
I was flying the KA-50 with EinsteinEP yesterday (and by with, I mean following half a mile behind him desperately trying to avoid smacking into a mountain), and as we approached the target area he called out to settle into a hover just behind the next ridge. At this point, I should note that I still haven't come anywhere close to mastering the art of stopping in the Shark, so I'm pretty much panicking, knowing that I'm probably either going to drop and crash, climb and get shot, or just run right into Einstein.
I saw Einstein pitch up and start slowing so I follow suit, being careful to pass to his side in case I couldn't stop fast enough. As I approached the ridge I realized I was not going to stop in time. As a last-ditch effort I pitched back even further, slowing rapidly... and failed to notice that I am now descending as well.
I was snapped out of my target fixation on the speed indication by a sudden THUMP! I had managed to plant myself firmly, right next to the crest of the ridge. No visible damage, no alarms, and no system failures. Another hard landing (this one planned ahead of time... The landing, not the hard part) a bit later would blow out my nose gear tire, but fortunately it was at the FARP so I got it repaired.
Clearly I need more practice on flight mode transitions and landing!
