So I read that IL-2 CLOD was getting pretty good with the Team Fusion mods and - being a WW2 fan - I bought the DVD from Amazon. After going through many hoops with Steam (I apparently had an old account I forgot about) I got a new account setup, and Steam finally said I was ready to install CLOD. The DVD would spin for about 10 seconds and the installer then started an endlessly increasing "time to install" estimate, in other words the installation had stopped cold.
I have tried running as Administrator, tried installing directly to C: drive, turned off UAC and Windows Defender - all with the same result. What is worse, Steam now says that I have CLOD installed! Has anybody faced this problem, or have any ideas on what to do? I am getting pretty fed up with Steam at this point, because to request tech support they want me to set up yet another account with different username and password. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
