Yep what? I don't want to click it especially as seeing whatever this "WTF Is" reviewer site said about Rambo because that seemed to be spot on.

And I just preordered on Steam too before this thread. frown It is what it is but I'm still not watching that video. I'm hoping for at least and entertaining story stealth game ala Dishonored as it seems to have departed from the Thief genre anyhow.

We'll see tomorrow..... behindcouch

Oh nooos I just read in the Steam forum that some taffer decided it was okay not to have manual jumping instead of contextual jumping! I hope I read this wrong or that its executed in such a way that doesn't make me want to go weep in a corner when I start the game.

What in the living hell is wrong with seasoned developers? Have their jobs robbed them of the gamer deep inside. I mean if you've even played games ten years nonetheless twenty plus years there are some things that are just gaming common sense 101 and gamer courtesy 101. screwy

Watch the first 11 minutes, there's no gameplay, just info without spoilers. He mentions the contextual jump etc, which isn't the preference, but doesn't seem to harm the game or interfere. So, unless you want to bunny hop around, apparently it's not biggie. Pretty sure he'd have said so.
The Rambo review was funny. Saved me some money. For some reason I thought that thing would have survival and setting traps etc. No idea where I got that impression, but it's a disappointment.

The reviewer of Rambo brings up a good point that the advertised screenshots depict an entirely different game. Not even close. Makes me wonder if it was out and out a misleading or if they very well intended to make a certain type of game, released early shots of it, then something happened and they had to throw together an archaic shoot house.

I just hope Thief doesn't make you feel slaved to the ground. I don't care if I can only jump 2 inches I don't like being slaved to the ground in an action game. As much as the Witcher games are good, that's one thing I've always hated. Not being able to jump. I just like "knowing" I'm not glued to the ground.

Okay I'm really enjoying it. biggrin So far my fears are quelled about the jump issue. Once you know what, where and why you can scale things it makes sense and it becomes very natural. It also helps that it has silky smooth transitions from stand still to scaling ala Dishonored.

From what I've played so far, even though it has newer FPS perspective camera effects(which is a good thing), so far it feels like Thief to me. I've had to spend some time adjusting my graphics but I have found a happy medium between performance and looks. Pretty much I just turn tessellation, ssao off and run things at high settings with depth of field set to medium. Runs pretty well and still looks great.

Like Dishonored, almost every screenshot of this game looks like a work of art. Beautiful graphics in a unique, lore-filled world. And it has atmosphere! Just the first couple of levels at night in a rain storm with the sound of rain coming off of roofs and seeing the lighting light up the actual rain and seeing guards remove shadows from the world by lighting street lamps is very earthy and gorgeous.

I stared with keyboard and mouse but then went to the controller as something was lost in translation for running and jumping onto another surface. I couldn't do it. I finally figured out the quirk of how to get around it and am back at mouse and keyboard. The swoop feature is nice too.
