I have liked the Piranha Bytes games series -- starting with the original "Gothic". The second game in that series was the one that "sold me". Piranha Bytes in the upper echelon. However, historically, they've "bitten off more than they could chew" in attempting games beyond their resources.
Like you, and for the same reasons, I was not as interested in Risen 2 -- but, its still installed on my machine.
I'll be ready for another Medieval Fantasy RPG by the time this one hits.

I really enjoyed Risen. I got pretty far into it but never finished it. I liked its setting and world and dialogue. It was also a nice RPG experience and respite from Bethesda RPGs. I never took to Risen 2 with its pirate theme. I do like pirates but it was a weird mix trying to combine pirates with Risen's fantasy lore. Just didn't click with me. Hopefully this returns to the feel of Risen.
