Ok trying to explain this... in the A-10C the HUD text gets larger( keeps it's aspect size) when you zoom in and smaller when you zoom out, in FC3 the F-15 HUD the text will get larger if you use the keyboard to zoom in but with track IR I zoom in and the HUD stays the same size( making it hard to read when I zoom in to get a zoomed view of HUD symbology) .. am I missing something with the z axis setup with track IR for FC3??

I will bump up the topic.

I have the same issue. Have no clue how to configure proper zoom in cockpit with track ir. It simply does not work. When i don't use track ir i can zoom using default keys. With track ir it does nothing. And by zoom i mean not moving my head closer to the monitor but zoomig the hud so i can see far in the distance and make targeting a bit easier.

Been looking for the answer on the net for some time but i found nothing. Could someone pls explain it to me and just simply give the proper configuration? It's been driving me crazy since i bought A-10A for FC on last Steam sale.

Thanks for any help!

I may be missing the problem. If so, sorry, please ignore. I don't use TrackIR for zoom in DCS. I made a DCS profile in my TrackIR software and in unchecked the z axis. Applying that profile to DCS allowed my to assign zoom to keys, buttons or an axis.

I think i should be more clear. I know that track ir isn't suppose to zoom. There are seperate keys for that - * and / on num pad by default. The problem is those keys do not work and don't do anything when track ir is turned on and i'am flying with it. When i don't use track ir, meaning it's off, these commands work fine and i'am able to zoom my hud so i can see far to the distance.

If the text is keeping its size you're not zooming in, you're physically leaning in. I'll look at how I have it set up when I get home. I do it with TrackIR and a slider on my HOTAS just fine.

ETA: I love how the word "HOTAS" turns into a link to amazon :/

Thank you. I'll be very grateful! And yes, i want to zoom so i could see the text/reticule on hud much bigger. And i'am using Saitek x-52 so i also have a slider on throttle.

Well, I'm an idiot, I didn't see that this was in the LOMAC section (I don't own it). For the Huey, Hog, Shark etc what I do is set "Zoom View" (under the "Axis Commands" section of your control profile) to the slider on my throttle.

If it helps, I obviously make sure that the controls for the TrackIR don't conflict with the aircraft.

The trick is you need to set an actual "eyeball" zoom, and not physically leaning your pilot forward in the seat.

The OP's problem is that the zoom commands that work in A-10C, Huey, P-51D, etc., don't work the same in the FC3 aircraft.

If there is an alternate command that works, I haven't found it either. Leaning forward with TrackIR is the best I've come up with. Works OK for me, although I'd prefer the zoom command.

Ok, i think i got it. Peally was actually right. This method works also with A-10A.

In axis commands you can set "zoom view" to a slider but you need to turn off track ir zoom in the same category. So now moving head back and forward doesn't do anything. The slider does the real zoom so everything on the hud is much bigger.

Thanks for all the replys!
