The best mod is the one that is currently being developed (since we keep updating the game engine).

PE3 has the most content that is complient with version 1.03 of the PEx game engine. There are a few landscape physics issues and a few files that need to be changed to get the 2Km view range.

If you want to play eastern front, it's your only choice.

I have to say it looks better than I remember playing, and I played that game so much that when I get together with my old roommates, we quote that game a lot. "I am still loading ap!" lol

There is also Iron Front if you are need in that East Front fix as well.

I have both versions installed - by that I mean PP2-X and PE3-Ostpak. PP2-X looks impressive, capabilities seem better, Ostpak on the other hand has the content of Eastern front. Normandy, Tunisia, Italy are interesting theathers to fight in, but for me the real deal is the Eastern front when it comes to WW2. I hope someone will take the effort in the future to bring the content of Ostpak into the new engine.

From a user perspective it would be much easier and useful to have every effort going into one engine/version instead of two. PP2-X is the way to go ahead, but the shiny new engine needs to be filled up with content as well. Hope it will follow in some form. Anyways i'm happy with both versions as they are right now, and I'm already seeing myself spending too much time with it

PEx is the game engine. It has a few examples of each improvement. PP2-x is L&L's PP2 converted to use the new game engine. Slomo's intrest is MP so he decided to work on converting that mod. It has more the tanks reworked.
